Well you're a douche.
They have just as much right to be there as you do. Plus, a lot of those retirees still work(a lot work on post oh the horror!!!) and only have evenings and weekends free as well. Get over yourself.
Wow, really? They have just as much of a right, if not more, than you do to be there. Get the eff over yourself. You can't stand them at the commissary when you're there? Well, there are plenty of other grocery stores out there you can shop at.
Well you seem pleasant. You do know that some people might have a job or ya know, a life, just like you do. Get over yourself. If it bothers you that much go shop somewhere else. But guess what? All grocery stores have issues and customers that will annoy you. Maybe learn some fucking patience.
I hope you're doing okay, booyah, because this post is really, really offensive. My XH is a disabled veteran of 25+ years. He tried to re-up during Desert Storm because he wanted back in to serve again and heard they'd relaxed the standards for seizures. Unfortunately, he didn't qualify because of his disabilities. And his disability has led to further complications. He is getting tested next month for early-onset Alzheimer's. He's had parts of his body removed due to cancer. He's only 49 and he's lived half his life (so far) with the disabilities he incurred while serving in the military. We (he, our three kids and pregnant me) lived in a tent because of his service in the military, his disabilities and our fight to get the pension he deserved. And because of that he deserves every little shitty thing that the government will provide as a benefit to him, including the ability to shop at the commissary and exchange when it's convenient for him.
His wife works and he shouldn't be driving (but he occasionally does because it gives him independence and he's an idiot) but he also has the responsibility of a high-functioning autistic son while she's working so he's not always able to just hop in a car and drive down to the commissary on a whim so he won't be a bother to those who are more able-bodied. On a positive note, he does use a debit card.
My former FIL spent several days bobbing in the ocean in WWII listening to his boatmates drown, cry or get eaten by sharks before he and fellow survivors were located and rescued. Fifty years later he was still sleeping with a nightlight and having nightmares.
Have some compassion. They served their time and deserve your respect.
And basically they should only be allowed at the commissary during the day, not on nights or weekends when working people need to shop and can't be slowed down by them.

Well, I'm sorry I missed this one. I would have had a good bit to say. Guess I'll save it for the next time some one comes on with some ridiculous crap about retired service members.

I'm sure there were LOTS of WORDS capitalized for EMPHASIS
I think that she could have handled being flamed. It was being told/reminded that others have gone before her, making greater sacrifices than she has, was more of a life lesson than she anticipated.
Being flamed is one thing, being schooled and put in place is another. I do hope she took the lesson to heart.
