A couple of years ago, my new sewing machine came that way. It was snowing that day, too and the UPS man left it on the edge of the porch. I went out and moved it so it was under the porch roof and then pretended I didn't see it. DH tried so hard.
DH ordered a kitchen aid mixer for me last year from Macy's. it was also just delivered in the box. I pretended not to see it on the porch but it was raining and was already wr'et. DH brought it in to dry and couldn't wrap it wet so it sat on the kitchen floor for several days.

I'm pretty sure DH won't be surprised by anything I got him and I won't be surprised by anything he got me. I do think they shouldn't advertise that a pricey item is sitting on your front step.

um yeah that sucks...I feel like they should identify which items this will occur with and give a warning and option of adding an additional box....at the very least they could wrap in brown paper

dh and i rarely surprise each other with gifts - we're too pragmatic for that.... i wouldn't get him anything else big....
and a lot of people have complained about this happening - i guess the more people shop online the more it will happen- thankfully for us it hasn't been a problem- the one thing that came that was was DS's balance bike- and he wasn't home when I brought it inside.
a lot of people ship to their office for this reason, too.

The kindle I ordered for DH came in a small, black, odd shaped box. I opened it to make sure that is what it was, and that is the actual product box. I don't think you can return open electronics! At lead DH didn't see it and it didn't get stolen off our porch. I hope he likes it!

I've been hearing this more and more this season. Don't get him something else. Take the waffle maker out of the box and put another one of his presents inside (something light so he knows it's not a waffle maker and opens the box) then wrap the actual waffle maker in a different box.

Yep, this has happened to us as well - my parents got DH a tool storage chest and not surprisingly the box says exactly what it is. it weighed over 70 pounds so not like I was moving it and hiding anyway.
And today DH called to tell me all the boxes that arrived. "And something from all clad." Yep that would be the slow cooker I asked for - from crate and barrel - from my parents.
I had a similar problem last year. The gift DH wanted was out of stock so the store was going to order it in. When it arrived in store they called and left a detailed message on our answering machine and said exactly what it was. Of course DH heard the message before I did.
I ordered some stuff from Macy's, small stuff. It came in brown box. I then got another email that something else was being shipped. I had ordered other stuff so things were in different stages of being shipped but I couldn't figure out which item(s) this email was about. Yesterday I find a box on my porch, from Macy's. I pick it up and and it really doesn't weight anything. When I opened the brown box I found a beautiful gold gift box with bow...empty. I didn't order a gift box, don't appear to have paid for it and nothing on the whole order was a gift. Weird. BUT I am going to use it, it's really pretty.
I haven't had this happen but I have heard about it A LOT the last 2 years. I always get H's presents sent to my parents house, just to be on the safe side.
