Do they ever offer any sort of incentive to join at various times of the year? We've been thinking of joining for a long time, for a variety of reasons, but always figured we'd wait until we had a baby. Well, now that I'm pregnant DH is ready to go and sign up today! I'm just curious if there's an "MM" way to join? Do they offer a referral bonus if I sign up based on a friend or something? Gift card for signing up?
The Saturday before Christmas? Don't do that to yourself!
AFAIK, there's no incentive, but they will let you check it out before you join. For us it's well worth it. But it can really be a zoo. I typically go midweek since I SAH, and it's not too bad, but on a Saturday it gives me the hives!
Oh, there's NO WAY I'm going there today! If anything, we'd probably join in the spring! I was just trying to emphasize how excited DH is to join Costco (and to have a baby, of course!).
I have never seen a promotion in over 5 years of being a member. Costco is MM in and of itself.
Edit: FWIW we have the $100 a year Executive Membership and that one pays for itself too, just with the rewards points we get back (not counting general savings on stuff). Regular membership is $50 or $55 a year.

I will tell you that we used Costco to stock up on diapers for our new baby. They typically have coupons in their flyer for diapers and/or wipes. I think the last coupon was close to $10 off a big box of Costco brand diapers and $5 off Costco brand wipes. I like their diapers better than Luvs. I have never had an issue with leakage. Quality is comparable to Huggies IMO.
Sorry for my rambling Costco promotion. I just really like Costco.
I think they give different signup gifts. You might want to call periodically and see what the gifts are. All we got was a reuseable insulated grocery bag (which was nice), but a co-worker got a free roasted chicken and a bunch of batteries. I think her gift was better. I already had plenty of bags.

We got $10 off our initial membership when we signed up at a booth at a 5k they sponsored. They do promotions (or at least did several years ago) but I have no idea how to find one other than dumb luck.
I bought my membership through MyPoints and got free batteries, a free chicken, free pizza and then some high dollar coupons for other things. I paid the $55 fee to a third Party company via MyPoints and brought a certificate into the store to exchange for our cards. It seemed like the best deal at the time.
My office had a Costco representative come and see us. If we signed up or upgraded our membership, we got a nice big bag, a cookbook, and a gift card ($10 i think?). If we got the executive membership AND the AMEX card, we got a $25 gift card.
I love their wipes and formula. BFing didnt work out as well as planned and we supplement. $16.50 for a large can vs $20ish for the target generic and 30+ for brand.
I got a $55 credit on my first bill after I signed up for the Costco AmEx card. That was equal to membership cost (AmEx is free). Not sure if this was just because it was a brand new store though. May have been a grand opening type promotion.
