If you get gel polish, how does the manicurist take it off your nails? I used to go to a nice, expensive salon, and they would put acetone on a cotton ball, place it in my nail and then wrap my finger in foil to keep it on. I have started going to a cheap place, and they just have me soak my nails in acetone. I am a little concerned that this is really bad for me.
It seems like to me that it weakens your nails. Yay or nay, Dr. Peppers? I have no idea what you teach, but I know it's science-y, so I'll take your word lol.
Yeah, but your nails are going to be pretty trashed any way you remove a gel manicure.

I must have super strength nails because mine are fine and I have been getting these for > a year.
I just got my first gel polish, but I bought some acetone so I can get it off at home. It's really cheap ($3 for a small bottle). Now I want to buy the stuff to do it at home, because I love how it lasts.

I usually get a French gel manicure and never make it back to the salon. It usually looks decent enough until my nails grow out and I clip off the tips. Probably not the best way to do it though!

I just had to stop getting them because I had an allergic reaction. I'm Not sure if it was the polish or the soaking in acetone. My nails are Trashed now too. I'm bummed because I loved how they looked and Lasted.
