We're having our immediate families over to our house for a brief Christmas Eve celebration. We only get my step-son for Christmas Eve this year, and we figured it was way for all the grandparents and aunts/uncles to see him before he goes to his mom's house.
People will be there for a max of two hours, because we have to head out to both of our grandparent's houses later in the evening for family celebrations.
What can I serve that is appetizer-y and doesn't require a lot of effort for me? I'm pregnant, exhausted and had already declared myself "done" with Christmas when I finished wrapping this afternoon. I completely forgot that I probably should feed our family something...
Appetizers that your DH picks up at Trader Joe's and/or Costco. Tell him to look for things that call for the same oven temperature. It makes it much easier. Grab a veggie tray and a cookie tray and you're all set.

Make or buy a dip or two and some crackers and carrots. Get a couple frozen apps and heat them. Done!
For dip, my favorite easy one to make is a can or two of white beans, some of the liquid from the beans (or olive oil) a squirt of lemon juice. Blend it all up, then throw in some sun dried tomatoes at the end and chop the up roughly in the blender. Done!

I'm thinking I might just pick up a veggie tray and cheese and crackers. Easy enough to prepare and maybe I can add some cookies that SS and I make tomorrow.
