starting to research dishwashers. ours is on its last leg and we've decided it is time to buy a new one. all of our other appliances are SS, so it will need to be, too.
so, if $ wasn't an object, what would you buy and why?
and if $ was an issue, what would you settle for with due consideration to balancing quality of performance with price?
I love my KitchenAid as well. I was really leery of doing my good crystal/china in it until I saw it on a tech show and they raved about it for the crystal/china. This was a tech show, not a retail selling show. Also, is Bosch still selling in the US? I can't remember which European country I read recently has stopped selling in the US and it is a really good brand... Wolf? I can't remember.

We like our Bosch. I guess it's mid-range since it wasn't available at the big box stores, but wasn't top of the line, either. Our priorities were cleaning ability (of course) and energy efficiency/minimal water usage. It's delivered on both. It happens to be quiet, too, which is a bonus.
We have a kenmore elite. Honestly dishwashers fell into 2 categories for us. Ones that fit our everyday plates (Noritake Colorwave Square) and ones that didn't. Very few dishwashers at multiple stores had prongs far enough apart to fit out plates.
I believe it was about $800 regularly, we got it on sale, plus another 20% off at sears.
It is quiet, it is efficient and it is designed to hold a lot. I am very pleased with it. Appliances usually go on sale for the Martin Luther King Jr weekend and the President's day weekend.
