I'm used to nose bleeds, I got them all the time as a child.
But OMG! I was just sitting here and all of a sudden blood everywhere. It just kept pouring and pouring out of my nose and my poor Husband is like "pinch your nose! put your head back!" and I'm all "but now I'm bleeding out of my nose AND it's running down my throat!"
I'm glad I had a paper plate next to me and that he ran and got my paper towels. The clots that came out were ginormous though, I didn't know something so huge could even be up my nose. :-(
Now I have a raging headache.
And you all know way more about my bloody nose than need be.
I kept telling him I knew what I was doing, lol. He's SO bad with blood, he just didn't want to see it.
Soon as the second clot came out it stopped instantly but dude, so much blood.
Also, everyone always told me "you want those clots...to stay in there. It needs to clot in your nose" except mine always stopped when all the clots came out.
Is this typical of everyone? I thought it was but people have informed me that no, the clots aren't supposed to come out. (I think they're full of it)

fwiw I used to get alot of winter nosebleeds. It was caused by the dryness of our gas heat. I put a cold mist humidifier near my bedside for sleeping, and I haven't gotten a nosebleed since. If you don't want to go the humidifier route but you think the cause is your house heat, you can dab a touch of vaseline inside your nostrils before bed, and this will also help prevent nosebleeds.
Lurker posting. Do you get these often? If so, check with your doctor. I was diagnosed when I was little with Von Willebrands Disease. It is believed to be an under diagnosed condition since when women have it, a lot of times the emphasis is on their bad periods and the pill takes care of it without finding out the true cause. I have a nasal spry to help stop the nosebleeds.

I used to get these all.the.time. when I lived in a cold, dry climate. Yeah, I gotta gently blow out the clots, too. And no, no, no tilting the head back, unless you want all that blood down your throat to swallow. Yuck. I had to go to the ER once because I was in the car, and had gone through a whole roll of paper towels and it was coming out both nostrils. Awful. I feel your pain.

I have had the biggest clots come out during a bloody nose, they are disgusting. The first time it happened it was after flying and I was like wtf is happening!?
Everyone (including my Mom) were informing on how nosebleeds can be a sign of a stroke relieving pressure before it actually turns into a stroke. So I've been freaking out all damn day.
But I called a MedExpress and said "I had a nose bleed and I have soreness in my nose and pressure up between my eyes and forehead" she said without seeing me, she cannot tell me for 100% but it sounds like a sinus infection coupled with dry weather. (I had a headache hours before I got it and it came back after I had it and centralized in my face)
I'm prone to getting them in dry weather; normally I don't even think twice about that. But sinus infections are new to me and so is pain/soreness.
I think I wrote here about the last one, that one lasted a while and it HURT so bad for days, especially between my eyes.
The more I think about this, the more I am thinking it is just a sinus infection. When I talk I sound stuffed up, when I swallow I feel stuffed up.
I DID rub some Vaseline on the inside of my nose. And now that I have slept and am up, my nose is starting to feel runny.
I did tell her if it gets worse/keeps up I will probably come in.
I'm going to try the whole steaming method and taking something to see if it helps.
