I wonder what the big photo shoot is that she has been talking about? BH&G? It seems to be a pretty big deal.
I really, really like the way the house is coming together. I definitely would still like to see more warmth, but it's getting there. Things like stuff on the island, art on the walls, etc. To see it looked "lived in" would make a big difference. Still though, her vision was amazing.
Oh, and I am coveting the reclaimed wood countertop over the washer and dryer! So smart!
I'm liking it less & less. It feels so cold & sterile & I kind of hate the idea of a mudroom/laundry/dining combo room. I like some elements & like the blog but I'm over the black, white, gray, wood, metal over & over.
I appreciate her style even though it isn't the same as my own. I love seeing things come together. I agree that things look a little sterile, but I understand. We gutted our house and it took over a year to add warmth and get things on the walls. I agree that the mudroom/laundry/dining room combo is weird. I just can't see eating in a room where the washing machine is. It's odd.

Agree. And those tulip chairs with that particular table in the mudinaundry room make me weep.
I want to like her style, but some of the decisions in this house make me weep.

I loved the style of her old house, but I'm having a hard time with this one. The laundry/mud/dining room especially. It's all bad, and that makes me sad.

I've been liking it more since she added in more elements. I actually think the kitchen looks better with holiday decorations--she needed some more interest. I think the black french doors look great. I desperately want her to put something decor wise on that island--it always looks blank to me (and this is coming from someone who has a smaller island that is always bare for functional purposes, but I think that island could handle a centerpiece, a bowl, SOMETHING).
She mentioned being partnered with Crate & Barrel. I wonder if that will factor in to the photo shoot.
I like the concept of the tulip chairs, but not with that table. That room would be awesome if she had a larger table that could be a real workhorse to the room. I'm disappointed that she didn't use the navy fabric to make the slipcover--that room needs some color.
Overall, I am more satisfied with her putting more "things" into the house. It was too bare before. But I still stand by the admonition: Avoid too much IKEA!
I do like her style. Has she ever published a floor plan of that house? I'm confused by it.
I don't think so, but I believe it's a basic rancher style where you walk-in to the family room with the island and kitchen in the rear. To the left is the mudroom/laundry/dining. To the right down the hall are 3 bedrooms with a hall bath. It looks like the master is at the end of the hall on the left with the ensuite, so I'm guessing the hall bath is probably on the other side of that wall for ease of plumbing.

That is sort of what I was thinking, but I don't understand why they are doing the dining/play/mud/laundry combo. I'm all for open-plans, but this seems to be a bit much.
