I haven't figured out how big to do his first birthday. I want it to be special but I'm scared no one will come and I'll get the sads.

Me too. I have no clue who I would invite.
Legit question....would it be wrong to steal a theme someone mentioned on here? Because you all are so much more creative than me and I may have heard some things I like

We're doing the Eleanor in ONEderland tea party theme. SO many cute ideas for that on Pinterest. I'm getting excited already, and she's a May baby, lol! (May 2nd)
Dr. Seuss. It was DH's idea and I'm just kind of going with it.
If you have a kohls near you they just came out with a Dr Seuss line of stuffed animals and books for $5. It's for the kohls cares charity and I buy the different lines every month or so. Books that would normally cost $15 are cheap and 100% proceeds do charity. Might be some cute decor for the party!

I don't have one near me, but there are some not too far away. That's a REALLY good price, and for charity too! I might have to make the trek. Thanks for the info!

Haha cute catchphrase! I was thinking a wonderland-type tea party too, but was sure how to cutely word it.
Muppet, there are some cute stuffed animals. I'm going tomorrow to stock up on the books. They have the coordinating book and stuffed animal and they have Horton and I am so-so-so excited to buy him!!!!!! You might be able to order them online?
ETA: They have them online! They have last months on sale for $2.50! It's such a steal. I'd link but I'm on my phone. Just google "kohls cares" and I think it's like 3 links down.
It's silly but I want the theme to match the weather. I wanted balloons n flowers but it could still be winter here. So I'm thinking of doing something not season specific. I like Trudy's Cute as a Button idea.....
All of your ideas are so cute! My extended family has jaded me towards 1 year parties, and now I want to do one. But, we don't have people to invite. I will live vicariously through all of you.

Hmmm, I wonder if I waited, if the Dr. Seuss stuff would go on clearance . . . . . .

We are having an animal theme at the zoo! A zoo about 40 minutes from our house does first birthday parties for reallllly cheap and Liam loves animals so I think it will be fun. And we won't have to worry about people being at our house. Sure he won't remember it but I think it will be fun for the other kids that will be coming. They bring an animal into the party room! And do crafts and stuff. I found a jungle cupcake decorating set at marshals a really long time ago so ill probably do those and a smash cake for mister man. Not sure what kind of food yet because it depends on what they will let us bring into the room. I was thinking a panini bar? But that depends on whether or not they will let us have a panini grill in the room.

I was thinking that April showers bring may flowers would be cute but I don't think a flower theme for a boy's first bday is such a great idea. UJ I LOVE the spring training theme. So cute
I don't understand not having anyone to invite? I don't mean that snarky....just who do you spend any time with? Invite them.
We will invite my family, H`s family and both our friends. some have kids, some don't. just people who are involved in her life.
We're pretty new to the area, so we only have work friends who probably wouldnt come. We don't hang out with anyone, but we could invite our next door neighbors. Other than that, just both sets of grandparents. They'll come, but they're 2 and 4 hour away. We have other friends who are all around 2 hours away, some may come.

Is it sad that I don't have a theme yet? I feel so behind on all of this...... It also sucks that my townhome is now bursting at the seams, I am so stressed about having this at my home, in April.
Adam's 1st birthday party was monkey themed, I even made a monkey cake for him.

Oh. I totally get that then. I'd probably just do a small thing then with her and my H and the grandparents if they wanted to make the trip.
