I ordered bedding from a seller on Etsy, and want to order one more crib sheet. She also made my changing pad cover. I want to order 1 more of those. Is that enough? Will 2 changing pad covers get me through until potty training, or should I suck it up and purchase 2 MORE, which would bring my total changing pad covers to a count of 3?
The color is perfect, I haven't seen this fabric anywhere, and it matches everything else in the room so well. I wouldn't be contemplating purchasing extra now, but as it's an Etsy seller, I don't want to find myself without the ability to do so in the future.
So tell me - how many changing pad covers would get me through 2-3 years?
I just have 2 and have never wished for more. We don't use the change pad that much any more. I wash it when it gets dirty; I do use a prefold in the "critical area" and wash that more frequently.
I only have one lol. I wash it when it gets dirty and once every few days otherwise. I feel the changing pad is starting to outlive its usefulness though based on how he squirms and rolls now and we will probably soon just start changing him in his crib or on the floor. So I wouldn't necessarily plan on having the changing pad around forever.

We have two. We cut up a waterproof flannel crib pad to use as liners. The liners get changed every few days; the changing pad cover gets changed when I happen to remember it while doing laundry. The change pad cover rarely gets dirty since the liner covers almost all of it.
I had 4 but only because someone gave me a third and fourth with no gift receipt and I didn't know where it came from. I would have been fine with 2, maybe 3 if you want to be extra cautious (but we cloth diapered so there was ALWAYS a load going in the laundry in the early days when she was most likely to soil the changing pad cover).
We only have one and it's plenty. We only change maybe 10% of diapers on the actual changing table--we use the bed or the one downstairs on the PNP a lot more often.
Agree with token re: the prefold under the butt for poop diapers.
We have 2 but they are just plain pink minky. We almost always have a waterproof lap pad on it so they only get washed when I wash the infrequently used stuff. It isn't the pee/poo that is a problem for us, it's the puke since dd has reflux.
I have 2 and a boy. 2 is enough and I have 4 of the washable liners. Those have bad their fair share of pee and poop on them! After an explosive poop while diaper less on the changing table at 2 am I was happy I had a backup of everything!

:-| You should be fine with 2. We have two changing tables upstairs (one in each kid's room) and 3 covers and it had been plenty. We also used disposable liners with them at first because the kids spit up a ton whenever we changed them.
um we have zero, lol. I ordered on on etsy but failed to measure my changing pad and it didn't fit, doh! We used liners on top of the pad that we got as a gift, but when we ran out we didn't buy more. It's not pretty but since the pad is water proof I just wipe it down regularly
We now have four, but we don't need that many. I initially got two: the Zutano elephants one, and a Carter's minky dot one. I really dislike the Carter's one because it discolored and stained pretty much immediately. I finally gave in and ordered another Zutano one off Amazon, then saw that the same manufacturer (Kids Line) makes solid versions, and Amazon Warehouse Deals had a lime green one for <$5... so I ordered that, too.
The Carter's one will probably be donated, so we'll be down to three. We've done just fine with two for almost three months, though. And I have a boy who regularly manages to pee during changings... and I only do laundry 2-3x weekly these days. In the very beginning, laundry was daily.
So short answer: two. ;D
OH and pro tip if you do want to use disposable changing pad liners (we don't, but I understand the appeal): buy dental bibs instead. Oddly enough, the car seat inspector we used had a bunch of random baby tips for us. She showed us a disposable changing pad cover and a dental bib (like the ones they clip on you at the dentist); they're totally the same thing, except the bibs are available so much cheaper. Or if you're friendly with your hygienist, you may be able to score some for free.
