I've had foster kittens for 2 1/2 weeks and it has been a ride. I' not a cat person and only agreed to foster these babies because the shelter was FULLLL due to the 3rd round of kitten season.
The four only needed to gain a few ounces to hit 2 pounds and then they would be fixed. Sounds simple except, I ended up at the e-vet with one who had coccodisis (sp?). The vet was so kind and charged me very little considering all he did for her (sub-q fluids, washed her little poop covered butt etc.) He gave me enough Albon to treat all four. Once they were well, things were better, but only 2 were fat enough to return. The shelter didn't want to split the litter especially since the kitten room has full and half were sick. Then Sunday, the sickness started again and the e-vet gave me another round of meds for all four.
I keep hoping they'll at least let me bring 2 in if I can't bring all four. I hate that they are just continually getting exposed so no matter how much I clean the room they are in. I spent all weekend cleaning.
Please send lots of "go back to the shelter and get fixed" vibes to Fred, Barney, Wilma and Pebbles.
