How was your 2012 generally? Pretty good. H&G wise? We didn't do much of anything, since we rent at the moment.
Outlook for 2013? Seems to be good. Resolutions? I don't usually resolve. I have some general goals - we want to make a kid this year, I want to do an Oly tri and complete a couple of dream "destination" swims, and we want to buy a house. We'd also like to pay off our debt altogether (although we may not quite make it). Biggest H&G goal? Buy a house.
How was your 2012 generally? H&G wise? 2012 was generally a good year. I got my shoulder repaired through surgery, maintained my job in this economy, had fun with DH, and watched my Dad conduct my baby brother's wedding ceremony. In regards to H&G: On the Home front, we cleaned up some stuff around the house and finished up some odds and ends with D&R (like new bedroom colors). On the flip side or Garden side of things, our idea that MrsMelB is WAY too busy to maintain a garden was confirmed and thus DH has volunteered to go back to moving that part of our lawn. I tried...
Outlook for 2013? 2011 was a giant rollercoaster....super lows and super highs. 2012 was a year of repair and mending (both body and house) so I anticipate 2013 will be a year of blessing! Resolutions?: Working on those. I'm constantly focusing on improving and challenging myself all...year....long. (Maybe cause I'm a virgo? ha!) It's hard for me to come up with NY resolutions. I'm going to cross my fingers I get to leave a letter of resignation and get out of this h@ll hole I am in for a much better job! Biggest H&G goal? I would love to say Hopefully DH gets on board again with that...we shall see!
How was your 2012 generally? H&G wise? 2012 was really good. Despite some ups and downs and some work issues, everything turned out ok. Plus we got PG! H&G wise we re-did another bathroom and made a lot of progress overall on the house.
Outlook for 2013? Excited for baby girl to arrive!
Resolutions? Try and not get too stressed adding a baby and getting ready for her.
Biggest H&G goal? I really want to get the office done before baby, at least the desk built. But we also need to figure out toy storage for her room too.
generally - the first 360 days were excellent. perhaps the best year of my life. the last 5 days have completely killed that though and it's put a huge black X on 2012.
h&g wise - we painted our entire apartment, found a few furniture pieces we love, and just generally made great progress in making this place a real home even though it's a rental.
outlook - given the past few days, i'm expecting a very challenging start to the new year, but i'm optimistic that it will turn around and we'll salvage a lot of the year regardless of a rocky start.
resolutions - to be better off at the end of 2013 than i am right now. more money in the bank, more satisfaction at work, closer relationship with h, loving my house more and more... all that. i just want to make forward progress.
h&g goal - use the new tools we just bought! we really want to start building furniture for some custom size spots in our house .
How was your 2012 generally? H&G wise? Generally 2012 was alright, but I didn't find a new job before the end of the year, which had been my goal. We had two good friends get married, lots of new babies born or on the way, and our families have been mostly happy and healthy. So, overall, 2012 has been good to us.
H&G-wise, it was disappointing because we didn't end up being able to buy the house we wanted due to the seller (needed fixes for us to get financing [we are using FHA] and seller would not agree to any repairs). Otherwise, we've continued cleaning out and boxing non-essentials while we wait for something to pop up.
Outlook for 2013? I think 2013 will be a good year. We have a few big things that need accomplished, like moving and my husband finishing his thesis. This is going to be a happy year, though, as we have another big wedding for a close friend, plans to travel to visit people we haven't seen in ages, and several babies being born this spring.
Resolutions? Continue purging things that we just don't need anymore. Also, continue on the trend of collecting experiences rather than things.
Biggest H&G goal? Buy a house! After our disappointment this summer/fall, we need to regroup with our realtor near the end of the month and figure out what our plan is. Since we are only looking in the town we live in and have to deal with our current lease too, we have limited options.
How it all went down: 2011 and 2012 are and will forever be lumped together for me. There were a lot of hard times in 2011 and 2012. In 2012 we lost lots of money when we sold our house and we lost both Cindy and Debbie. 2011 was the year Gabe was born way too early and I had to quit my job because of it.
But, 2011 was also the year I saved my baby, became a mom, found a good job and 2012 was the year we started to get back on our feet again and were finally rid of our house.
It's a weird feeling to have the worst and best things happen in your life in the same years.
2013: My hope for 2013 is that we can recover emotionally and financially from the last 2 years.
H&G Hopes: Just to declutter and organize a lot.
Resolutions: Declutter house Lose weight and get healthy
How was your 2012 generally? It had its up and its downs. . .We are struggling to recover from losing my job financially(and emotionally). I did get to spend two years with DS, which can never be replaced. DH quit the golf industry, did some office work, and now is a SAHD until he decides what he wants to do with his life. I did get my job back, which was a total surprise! My aunt was diagnosed with brain cancer in June, but is doing really well right now! It has been a crazy year. I am still processing my father's death from a 2011, and I am so thankful for the support my family gives me!
H&G wise? Not much has been done, except transforming our office into a playroom for DS, and obtaining some furniture from my grandfather, after he sold his house.
Outlook for 2013? I have no idea! These last three years have been a whirlwind, and it is hard to predict what this year will bring! Resolutions? I don't make resolutions, because I would break them! Biggest H&G goal? I would LOVE to redo our kitchen. . .we shall see!
How was your 2012 generally? It was a big year since we bought our first house. My little sister moved closer to go to boarding school up here which was a great change.
H&G wise? I'm happy with what we've gotten done in our first year. Family room and dining room are done(ish - 95% of the way but still wanting a few final touches). We've gotten some basic electrical/plumbing skills under our belts and I've done some solid molding projects.
Outlook for 2013? I'm *hoping* to do a mini-makeover in the kitchen with a $5K budget and make some progress on our upstairs hall bath. H wants to start building furniture! Resolutions? Be more badass and don't be afraid to try to DIY non-hazardous projects.
Biggest H&G goal? I want to tile the kitchen myself. Tiling scares me, but I think I'm just going to take a deep breath and go for it. If I screw it up, I can just undo it and start over.
Generally 2012 was a good year. It was a good year where I feel like we have hit our stride as parents and as a family. H&G we did a decent amount in the house but a lot of it was small stuff with the exception of buying dining room furniture and a rug.
Outlook for 2013? I hope 2013 will be a great year! We are settled in our town and hope to make some really great friends and get more involved in our church. We also plan to get pregnant again God willing.
Resolutions? I hope to get back in shape before getting pregnant in 6 months or so.
Biggest H&G goal? Unfortunately we have to redo our deck so I hope we can make a patio underneath and keep saving to finish our basement.
generally? pretty good relationship-wise, work-wise and even having success getting pg (since we struggle w/IF) H&G wise? again, pretty good, as we finally updated our living room/dining room. it all started with deciding to finally reface the fireplace, i purchased new drapes and we decided to paint a new color. loved the updated artwork we put in the living room, too.
Outlook for 2013? very good, mostly b/c dh will graduate with his new BS in Nursing and we will have our 2nd baby shortly after Resolutions? i just plan to have a more positive outlook in life. i have been reading "Power Thoughts" by Joyce Meyer & will follow it with "My One Word" by Mike Ashcraft & Rachel Olsen (she is a personal friend of mine and he is her pastor). They seem to be well timed to compliment each other and my approach to life this year. Biggest H&G goal? update faucet fixtures throughout the house and whatever minor updates need to be made for LO #2.
How was your 2012 generally? Meh, can't really complain. It was alright, but not outstanding or anything. H&G wise? Pretty good. I got some of the little things done and our house really feels like ours now. We've just got the big stuff left to tackle now.
Outlook for 2013? I hope 2013 goes well. DH will start a new job in February, which will be nice. I hope that we can accomplish some of the things that we've been looking forward to now that he will be making a little more money.
Resolutions? Get fit. I was doing so well with this in the summer, and then the school year started and my life was once again consumed by work. Any progress I made over the summer has been lost. I got some new running shoes for Christmas, so I plan to start breaking those in tomorrow. I also want to get more organized in life.
Biggest H&G goal? New flooring throughout the whole house.
How was your 2012 generally? Started off BAD but improved drastically - thank goodness!
H&G wise? -Had to move cross country -Lost a gorgeous house days from closing thanks to bad inspection. -Had to live in a hotel for a month -Listed our Texas house, which amazingly sold but had to bring $$$$ to the table. -Ended up with an even better house that we love.
Outlook for 2013? Know it'll be great! I'm really looking forward to our first full year in our new state.
Resolutions? Don't bother with them... but I hope to get serious about losing recent weight gain, get my food blog to take off, and maybe think about a baby
Biggest H&G goal? Get our house put together - have a LOT of projects
How was your 2012 generally? Hugely challenging but rewarding H&G wise? Ditto (made some big changes on our home but did them on the cheap/DIY and it was a LOT of work!)
Outlook for 2013? Fingers crossed it's better? Resolutions? I have general GOALS- run 500 miles, sub-30 5k, run a 10k (hopefully sub-60), clear out my hoarder room etc- but I avoid "resolutions" and I'll do my damnedest to NOT worry/ beat myself up if I don't succeed! Biggest H&G goal? I would looooove to buy a new home, but I don't know if my nerves can handle it right now. So if not I will work hard on putting a second bathroom somewhere in this tiny place!

How was your 2012 generally? H&G wise? In general it sucked. My mom was sick and died in September, so that was really hard. H&G related it kind of sucked as well, since I wanted to spend as much time as possible with my mom, so we put a lot of things off. We just started getting back into it in the last month.
Outlook for 2013?Hopefully it's better than 2012! We're working on our first level reno right now.
Resolutions? I have several. H&GR - finish the first pass on the interior of the house, clean and purge house, start working on the backyard. NH&GR - run a sub 30min 5k, complete a half marathon, take the GRE and apply to grad school, get my LEED AP, do 3 speaches for toastmasters, start an IRA, make 3 changes to reduce my carbon footprint, and don't buy any clothes
Biggest H&G goal? Probably trying to finish the interior of the house. We've owned it for almost 2 years, and there's been a lot to do, but we can see the light at the end of the tunnel!
2012....was a blur. Nothing crazy happened. No big H&G projects. I pretty much just coasted. It was kind of boring. I guess more bad happened than good. I got passed up for a promotion at work, and it still stings.
My outlook for 2013: I want to "let go" more and be happier. I stress a lot about little things. I want to spend more time on ME. The last year was all about survival and being a mom and wife that I didn't spend enough time on me. It's the year of learning to be love myself.
Resolutions: I have a lot of goals. #1 is spend more time on me. Read more, run more, treat myself to a salon visit once in a while (I haven't even had a haircut since April 2012!). I need to learn to relax. I want to keep a more organized and cleaner house. I want to run a half marathon. Worry less about work. Be a better wife. Be a little less "mom", and a little more "the woman my husband married" if that makes sense. LOL
H&G goals: The biggest is to transform our bedroom into a sexy place to relax. Right now it's still rocking H's bachelor dresser and night stand and an uber cheap duvet cover with sheets that don't even match. I want to build a headboard, get new bedding, get new nightstands, curtains, and decor on the walls.
