Luvs are our second choice. I can usually get Pampers for the same price per diaper or less if I find a good sale, so we haven't gotten them in a while. Diapers are very kid dependent, IMO. Huggies never worked for my kids, but other people swear by them. Grocery stores usually carry the small packs. It might be more per diaper, but if you hate them you won't have wasted $30. Do you have any friends with a baby in the same size? If so, you could split a box.
We have been using them exclusively beyond an initial box of Pampers and a few times where we've been out of town and needed more. They are cheaper than other brands and we've generally been very pleased with them. My daughter has never had a rash, blowouts are very rare, and I don't think they've ever leaked.
I *think* I've seen them in smaller packs in grocery stores if you want to test before buying a whole box.
I totally disagree with most. I love Luvs, more than Pampers. We switched back to Target diapers last week to try to save a few bucks, and I hate them. They are cheap and papery, and we've had more leaks this last week than the other year we've used Luvs. I used to like Target diapers, but the ones available right now are crap IMO. They also get huge and bulky when they're wet. I've never noticed a smell with Luvs.
It seems that diapers are redesigned fairly regularly, so it's possible that recommendations from people that haven't used one diaper or the other recently are inaccurate.
I guess the 1 star of 5 star theory is right It would be worth it to me to buy packages of both to try. You might even be able to get samples from both manufacturers, or at least coupons.
Target brand smelled bad to me. Someone told me to try them again. I havent yet, but might sincde I have noticed Pampers smell too. I wish we could cloth diaper, but with twins, I don't have the energy to deal with the washing and prep work.

We just tried them for the first time this week, and they work fine, but I think DD is allergic to them. She has a touch of diaper rash, and the only other time that happened was when we tried regular Huggies (scented) wipes.
We have used various diapers: Pampers swaddlers and cruisers, Huggies, Dollar General, Target, BRU, BJs Club and the only ones we didn't like we're Huggies Snug n Dry.

I like Luvs better than the Target brand. The target brand always bunched up in the crotch area within like 2 seconds of DD peeing even if it was a small amount of pee. Then she had a major saggy crotch.
I'd choose Luvs over Target. We had no issues with Luvs when we used a couple packs we got as a shower gift. We are a Pampers family (Swaddlers and now Cruisers).
we used luvs and i found them comparable to pampers baby dry. I used one for one baby and one for the other- since they were in 2 sizes, it was easier for me to have 2 brands so i could grab them quickly without checking what size it was, etc.

We were gifted Huggies, Luvs, Pampers and Tushies at our baby shower. Luvs are hands down my least favorite. I hate the smell. That said they are just as good as Huggies and pampers and my LO just poops in them so if/when I get coupons for them I still buy them. No blow outs or leaks at all so they do the job
every time I’d try to put a Target diaper on DD2, she’d get up and bring me back a Luvs diaper. She did this multiple times before I finally gave up and just used Luvs on her and used the remaining Target diapers on her younger brother, who doesn’t yet have a preference. Haha.
At one point, we had both Luvs and Target Up & Up diapers and every time I’d try to put a Target diaper on DD2, she’d get up and bring me back a Luvs diaper. She did this multiple times before I finally gave up and just used Luvs on her and used the remaining Target diapers on her younger brother, who doesn’t yet have a preference. Haha.
That's hilarious. Maybe diaper preference is why my DD just peed on the floor. She's sending me a message about those rough and scratchy Target diapers

We like Luvs. We mostly use Huggies but I buy whatever is the best deal. I've never had any leaking issues with Luvs and actually like them better than Pampers. They do have a powder-y smell though.
