WCM before 12 months?

I've noticed a trend of people weaning early and offering WCM as early as 10 or 11 months.

Isn't the recommendation still BM or formula for the first 12 months?

I always assumed if I stop bf'ing DD before 1 I would give her formula until 12 months and then WCM.

Recommendations vary. I offered it before 12 months (at 11 months) but it was not DS's primary form of nutrition, it was just another fatty food.

DD is 10 months and we have not offered it yet. No plans to do it any time soon.

Our pediatrician was fine with starting WCM at 11-11.5 months. He didn't want us to make the switch at 10 months, though.

I started, she is 11mos. Mainly because my supply is dipping and I am returning to work closer to a full time basis, so I figure I will attempt to start weaning rather than giving her formula for a month.

I plan to start at 11.5 months since I am running out of milk.
