Assuming you don't work around kids or sick people. I wasn't feeling great yesterday but feel much worse today. Stuffy head, runny nose, aches and a low grade fever (99 range). I'm returning to work tomorrow but am wondering if I should. I can take a sick day but this isn't exactly how I wanted to start off my work week. Should I go in to work or take a sick day?
If you even think you're contagious, you should stay home. You never know what you could pass onto a coworker (or their family members).
Can you work from home instead? I had a random virus last week, similar to what you're describing, and I worked from home in between naps I knew it was contagious, though, because I got it thanks to a colleague who came in sick. Eventually, all but 1 of us came down with it
I had to go in one afternoon for a mandatory meeting and knew I had a fever. I was miserable and even more pissed b/c the meeting didn't cover anything earth shattering to make it mandatory.

I have the ability to work from home but because I'm hourly company policy pretty much says I have to stay off the clock if I'm claiming a sick day.
I will probably stay home and take care of myself.
Yeah, I'd stay home too if you don't have anything pressing to do. No sense in spreading germs. Also a day to recuperate might make you feel better in the long wrong. Even half a sick day is helpful for me sometimes. If I work through it takes forever to get better. I do a sick day everytime though. I work in a school, so we're pretty much asked to stay home at the first sign of sniffles (there's a reason we get a hefty stack of sick days in my supt. eyes). As for the farm, I work through anything mild, but it's so physical that anymore than a cold and I'm just too wiped.
