I'm going to a baby shower next weekend. I already have two outfits and then I was going to tuck a GC into the bag, as well. I just checked her registry (b/c I'm obsessed with baby stuff right now and it's untouched. I feel like I need to buy her something from the registry, instead of a GC to the store.
So, what do you think? Buy a gift in about the same amount as the GC, or just get the GC? Which would YOU rather?

I'd probably get off the registry - but I'd be just as pleased with a giftcard. Lots of people don't shop until the day of the party, so she may still get things off the registry. I was a registry stalker so I'd like to see some things marked as "purchased"
Get a registry item. I used to buy off-registry books, clothing, etc., and have realized over the past few years how much people appreciate getting what they specifically want.
GCs are nice, but one less trip or online order towards the end of pregnancy would be nice.
Registries are fun - so if it's untouched, totally go that route.
I am still using gift cards from my baby shower, which was in June. It is so nice to have them...especially during maternity leave when you realize you need things that you didn't register for.
We used them a lot in the early days to get DD newborn clothes. We got a lot of bigger sizes, but she was so tiny! I used the gift cards as an excuse to get out of the house every few days.
I would return at least one of the outfits and get stuff from her registry. This may seem selfish or ungrateful but I don't get when people buy presents without even looking at the registry! (I know you did, I'm not talking about you) Parents-to-be put what they *need* on the registry!
I'm not returning the outfits b/c I bought them super cheap a while ago, and they are perfect for this season/baby. As far as I'm concerned they are "free" in this equation. I think I'll just go to the store this weekend and see what looks appealing from the registry. She's already had one shower and received some of the bigger items, so it's not like she has nothing.
I just had my shower this weekend. I was actually very thankful for all the little items that were bought off my registry. I think from now on when I go to showers i am going to gift those things like bottles, drawer latches, thermometers, etc....all the crap that no one wants to buy because its not big and its not fun.
I always do a registry gift and then an outfit that's 12M sized. The last shower I went to I made a bath gift basket with the tub, toy holder, toys and towels. The mom was super appreciative to have all of that taken care of.
I vote for something from the registry too. As said, to 'save her a trip' (even though it probabl won't!). And it's fun to open up an actual gift and see something that you wanted!
