Ok then, best of luck in your decision to get drunk at work. I hope you have a safe way to get home.
We have wine shares at the firm I intern with and we start drinking around 4 on Fridays, but we don't typically get drunk. But, I know a few firms do stuff like this.
uhhh, what? How is that okay for a firm to do? This is a joke, right? I would rather work at McDonald's than a firm that has wet t-shirt contests.
Yes good god its a joke people. Some of you need to chilll the heck out. Having some champagne at lunch does not qualify as getting wasted. The firm is also sponsoring a happy hour for me starting at 4:30. OHHHHH!!!
Sounds like someone is drunk already. Wish it were me. Oh wait, I'm at work and not stupid enough to get drunk here. Reminds me of the first loser I dated after my divorce that got fired for getting drunk at work and was found sleeping under his desk George Costanza style.
I have no issue with drinking at work if it is acceptable and she doesn't get plastered, or work on cases while drunk.
Me neither. Like I said, I've had a drink or two at lunch, when I worked in a field when that was acceptable. I've had company-sponsored happy hours that took place at the office at 4 p.m. But I think it's really not a good move, professionally, to be drunk at work.
As to whether or not this whole thing is a joke, it doesn't matter to me. She sounds like a moron regardless.
My work had a drink cart that came through in the afternoons, started some days off with a bloody mary bar and kept beer in the fridge. It was super fun and totally acceptable. No one got wasted. I'm pretty Emma isn't an idiot who's getting drunk at work.

Ummm that was totally unnecessary. I can personally attest to the fact that she most certainly isn't a moron and seriously way to kick someone when they're down. Emma is totally joking around with all of you.

No Im a total moron successful lawyer. You must be so cool gozf. Can I be more like you??

How's she down? It's her birthday, she's either drunk at work, or she's just having fun messing with us, and she got a holiday bonus and all her performance-related issues are over. Sounds like a lark!
I think she's presenting poorly in this post. You disagree. It's not the first time this has happened, nor is it a big deal.
Meh, to each their own I think. I like to drink as much as the next person but I've done it before on lunch break and wasn't too productive afterwards. Still, if it were my birthday, it was being encouraged, and I had a safe way to get home (I have a 30 minute commute) you can bet your ass I'd be indulging, given the occasion.

Thank you achase. And of course I do. I actually carpooled in today for the occasion and I of course would never get sloppy at work. Im pretty sure I know the limits when Ive been an attorney for 7 years. MMMM k people??

I could send you a pic of my bonus check but it might make you a little sad.......

Also if you can read, which Im assuming, the work performance issues were my boss being a psycho. They werent actual issues. In fact, the managing partner came to me and discussed that my boss was being reprimanded for trying to talk to me about attendance as I had the highest billable hours the last 9 months.

Well I'll be honest it's a big deal because I'm friends with Emma and she's an awesome person. Also I hate to see this board resort to name calling when it isn't necessary. In her OP she indicates she's having horrible cramps and her boyfriend has pissed her off on her birthday, hence the reason for wanting a drink.
My dick is bigger than ALL of yours. Just thought you should know. (that's how this thread is feeling. You guys are killing my MCC shake buzz-which I got because I was thinking of MCC at the time, sexually).

If you truly think I'm jealous of anything about you -- including your bonus -- you really must be plastered.
You claim to be a successful professional, and you just turned a year older. Perhaps it's time to act like it.

Ok. She's your friend. You talk to her off board, and you know more about her than I do. I just know what I see here, and I think that her posts today have sounded moronic.
I'd also like to add, for the record, that my initial post on this topic was genuinely concerned at what sounded like an incredibly bad idea. She escalated it and took it to an absurd place.

Yeah you sounded real concerned calling people morons and talking about work performance which you clearly have NO idea about or just pick and chose what you remember from my posts. Go pick on someone else or get a life or hobby!
My dick is bigger than ALL of yours. Just thought you should know. (that's how this thread is feeling. You guys are killing my MCC shake buzz-which I got because I was thinking of MCC at the time, sexually).
Liar. Prove it, be a rebel and post the first ever dickpic on SO. NOW!!!!
Um. I wasn't picking on you initially. I said that I thought it was a bad idea, particularly if I remembered that you were having issues at work. You're the one who went over the top. I just followed your lead.
And if we're playing the semantics game, here, I'll point out that I said you were sounding like a moron, not that you ARE a moron. I would have said the same thing to someone I'm friends with off-board, too, had the exchange gone the same exact way.
As far as interests and hobbies, I've got plenty, thanks. I don't follow you -- or anyone else -- around with a vengeance.

And I was going to say that she was all joking and everyone was just overreacting until I read this.
