So DD has gotten used to the sippy cup but we only put a tiny bit of water in there and only give her sips after a meal. She loves water but melts down once we take the cup away.
How much water/juice are you giving your LO's in a sippy and how much are they drinking at a time?
I know I should give daycare a sippy cup but I dont know what the limit should be and how much they should be giving her.
Honestly, I don't know how much she actually drinks but I would say it's about an ounce at each meal. I give her a sippy cup with water at home when she is eating her 3 meals. I don't leave it on the tray because she will drink, play or throw it over so I only hand it to her when I think she wants it. They give her a sippy cup at DC too at each meal.
Oh and the reason I don't really know how much she drinks is because I fill it up so it's easier for her to get the water. Her high chair doesn't recline at all and she was kind of struggling to drink it with only a little in there.
Honestly, I just fill the cup up and he takes about a quarter of it? I know I should probably be more strict about his water intake but he only gets a sippy at dinner and if I don't fill it all the way then he can't tip it back far enough to get any out.
We have been giving 1-2 oz of water after dinner. Sometimes I will put some formula in her cup because she loves drinking it so much. We have not done any juice yet. DD also melts down when we take hers away

Oh, and we don't give juice unless he is seriously constipated or eating potatoes (they always make him have hard poops)
Does juice do the trick to un-bind them? DD has had some hard pellet-like poop the last couple of days and strains so hard to go. Do you cut it 50/50 with water? How much juice do you give him if he is constipated? Does it work instantly?

(sorry for the insane amount of stupid questions)
Yup - prune juice works like a charm. I just put a couple of ounces in his sippy cup and mix with some water
I fill it up 3/4 of the way and he takes a few sips/gulps of it after each solids meal. When he's done with it, he throws it on the floor or sets it down on his tray. We've only down juice once when he was really constipated but even then it was diluted with water.

We do the same. He is obsessed with water though. He also gets it randomly through out the day if I think he's thirsty.

We do very little water as per our pedi. I do give her a few sips if she has something dry like pancakes, or if we're out to eat and she is being insufferable because she wants what is on my plate, I give her a sip of my water instead and she is happy. I also just make sure I order something she can eat whenever we go out now.
We haven't done any juice but prune juice (50/50 juice and water, I think the most she has drank was 3 oz one day, usually its closer to 1.5-2oz) because of constipation.
Mine is pretty bad at the sippy so she doesn't drink much. If I hold it up she might have some but even so she doesn't seem to "get" it.
I can get her to drink some by either giving her spoonfuls of it, or putting a straw in water and holding the top then trickling it into her mouth. She probably consumes 1oz water per day. I don't worry much as she takes a lot of milk still, but when she got constipated I did worry she was dehydrated so I tried to get some water in her via straw and spoon.
i fill the sippy up so she doesn't have to tip it very far to get it out, but she doesn't actually drink much of it. She will take sips but then I see it running down her chin. And there will still be probably 2/3 of the water still in there. We have only given her water so far.
Babysaurus gets cheesed off when we take her cup away, too. She will drink until it starts coming back up if we let her, though! We have to watch her closely and take it away. So far distracting her with a toy is the best bet.
Zoe takes small bits of water with dinner, out of a small regular cup. I haven't had to take it away, because we don't leave it in her possession, just give her a drink and rinse it out. Only water on this end, no juice.
No juice here either, not even with DS1 except on special occasions like a B'day party. No need to get him sugared up and I'd rather he eat the whole fruit anyway for the fibre and all.
But DS2 does drink water. It's summer here, and today it's 110 degrees so he gets his sippy with meals and if we're out and about. He still has BF 4-5 times a day.
I let her have a sippy of apple juice whenever she wants it. But she barely drinks any and she needs what she does drink- without it she has constipation issues. She maybe drinks 2oz throughout a whole day.
