I am putting off retiling my bathroom, but I need to jazz it up until I get the unlikely urge to rip out the tub surround. This is it in it's glory, except for we now have a crisp white shower curtain and there is a lot less blue going on.
I was thinking about doing something like DIY Diva with a light tan/cream colored paint
But then today I saw remodelaholic's gray bathroom
Anway, the room isn't that big and it gets no natural light. Do you think that I should go the safe route and go light or go crazy and gray?
I don't think of gray as crazy, and I also think that bathrooms are good places to be a little more adventurous than you might be in larger rooms. However, from the pic it looks like a tan/cream color would go with the floor tile better than gray would.

With the current floor tile you have, I think beige walls might make the room look a little too beige, and even date the room a bit.
I'm not sure the gray you posted would work with your floors, but I do think going with a bolder color on the walls would be nice. I wouldn't worry about the fact that it has no natural light. It looks like a pretty standard size bathroom, and I think a dark color would look nice.
go for it. The nice thing about bathrooms is that the fixtures and shower curtain and mirror take up so much wall space that there is a lot there to break up bold/dark colors.
And if you hate it, it's not a huge room to repaint.
I'd look into framing out that mirror if you can along with painting. I think that'd definitely help.
I wouldn't care for the pretty grey with that tile floor.
Instead of ignoring the beige, embrace it. Find a taupey beige as deep in tone as the grey and try that on the walls.
I have a pinkish taupe on my powder room walls and it looks great. DS's hall bath has beige tile; I painted it a dark caramel color and it really looks fresher. Painting the floor boards white might help as well.
Thanks for the input! All of the opinions have me set on putting it off until we build a new vanity- I'll replace the floor tile then so I don't have to be restricted by the current floor.
I gave the previous owners (who are only about 30) who were only here for about 4 years major side eye when they said that they put it in to update the space- I can only imagine what was in there before.
