I'm looking for a light/fairly compact umbrella stroller that might be easier to travel with vs. our Britax B-Agile. It folds like a traditional umbrella stroller vs. the B-Agile which although it is light and not too big when folded, folds down like a jogging stroller. I think I would feel more comfortable checking an umbrella w/luggage or at the gate vs. a more solid/bulkier stroller like my B-Agile.
It's just a bonus item that I'm adding to my registry. I probably wouldn't purchase it myself if we aren't gifted one. If you have any suggestions on alternatives, it would be great if they could be found in-store (so pretty common) at Target or BRU.

I have the Twin Triumph, and I don't love it. I find it hard to unfold (unlike my single City Micro that unfolds so easily), the basket is small and hard to reach, the brakes are a PITA, the button for snapping the kids in is hard to undo, hate that I need two hands to steer it, the sunshade is small, and the way the seats work is such that the kids can thrash around and the whole seat moves forward and backward. When I look at the pictures of the single, it looks like it would suffer from all of these same issues.
For #3, we'll be trying to use the City Micro as our umbrella stroller. Even though they've been discontinued, you can still get them for $100 on Albee Baby.
maclaren filed for bankrupsy - i wouldn't buy one new right now b/c you might not be able to get any help if something goes wrong, etc. If you found one used and cheap on CL or something- go for it but if you are going to buy new- go with another company. Baby Jogger, as someone mentioned above, makes fantastic strollers. I have owned 2 and loved them both.

The City Micro is made by Baby Jogger. It's not a traditional umbrella but it's smaller than the City Mini and less expensive (and maybe someone else here can give you a full review--we've only used ours a handful of times b/c we rarely need a single stroller).
the micro is similar to the mini- but it's a little smaller, lighter, does not have a full recline, and the sun shade isn't as big -- but it's a great fast stroller to open/close, etc.
I have a combi umbrella stroller that i love ( i have a single and double) - it folds fast/easy and has a graet carrying strap which has been awesome for us when we're on the move in NYC, airports, etc. it isn't as good of a ride as a city mini, but it has it's purpose for us, too. We have a double city mini that we love (i also had a city select, totally different type of stroller, but wonderful and my favorite of all the strollers i have owned, which has been many, lol)
We have a Maclaren and have no issue with it, we have been traveling with it for 4.5 years. The bankruptcy thing wouldn't bother me.
Edit: We have the Quest so maybe it is easier than the Triumph to fold, we have no issues folding it. I have a double city mini and that folds really well too.

I have one and I could take it or leave it. It works well enough, but I hate the braking mechanism, and I find the fold method to be a bit finicky. I stumbled upon mine during the season clearance of "old" colors at BRU. Brand new in box for $36. The store had probably 10 of them all in one color that apparently wasn't popular. For the $36 I spent I don't have many complaints, if I had paid full price I would have been disappointed.
Maybe check out Combi's lightweight umbrella stroller. I know that it folds differently than traditional umbrellas, but it has some additional features like a cup holder on the bar, and the handle is all one bar, so you can push with one hand as needed. I know that they are frequently on Zulily.
I actually just stumbled upon the UPPAbaby G-Lite stroller on Amazon. I had forgotten about that model. It's much more compact than the Maclaren & Baby Jogger City Micro. The price is great at $119. I'll add that, though BRU and Target don't have it. I can add it to Amazon's list. The reviews are great.
I have it. I'm happy with it for the most part. It is light and works well for an umbrella. I think if I had to do it again I might look into something with a slightly longer seat back.
I've used one for almost 8yrs. I don't know what's out now but they (I've owned 2) served my purposes well for years. Back when I bought it was much taller & more quality fabric/frame than the other options. I guess I need to go check out BRU & see what has changed in the last 4 years

This is the one we have. (the G-lite). It is pretty light (8 lbs) but it has taken me a LONG time to get the hang of in terms of folding it and unfolding it. It's not really intuitive. But once you DO get the hang of it its pretty easy. The sunshade is nice and big too. It's really easy to maneuver.
CloudBee!!! CloudBee!!! ::waves hand franticly:: I wanted a second stroller for travel (my primary stroller is a BOB). I did a shitton of research into all the umbrella/lightweight strollers under $150 (my budget). I have a spreadsheet and everything with a ton of categories (price, fold, canopy, basket, pros & cons) for like 7 different strollers. PM me if you want it! It's pretty awesome.
FYI I settled on the Uppababy G-lite but that's because of my own preferences (big seat for megababy, no reviews of short crotch strap, decent canopy and basket). Your needs might be different. I haven't bought it yet, I'm hoping it will go on sale (it was $70 on black friday!!!)
I don't love my Maclaren. It's hard to fold, it has a crappy basket, and it just doesn't roll as nicely as our Quinny did. We got rid of our Quinny before we found out we were pregnant again, but we plan on buying a Quinny Zapp Xtra for this one. I really loved traveling with it because of how light it is and how compactly it folds, and the seat can recline flat (and face toward you, too!).

I tried the G-lite and the g-luxe and ended up with the G-luxe. The G-luxe reclines which means you can begin to use it earlier. It also has slightly bigger wheels, which make it a decent choice for city travel. It was more expensive, but I have been really pleased with it.
We have the Triumph. I like it a lot. We had the Uppababy Gluxe, but it broke the first time I used it. We have the Uppababy Vista (which I love) but I thought the Gluxe was cheaply made.

We have one and I like it because it is easy to push (higher, more comfortable handles than cheap umbrella strollers). Need 2 hands to fold it though, unless I'm missing something Been using it for about a year without problems.
We used ours all the time, very good stroller. I mean, its not as smooth as my jogger and the only time I used it outside was at Disney (highly paved roadways, lol), but its a great mall and travel stroller.
Agreed that the fold isnt as great as a Baby Jogger but its fine.

I got the uppa baby Gluxe , I like that it reclines completely, has a very plush seat and a huge sunshade Once I actually read directions on how to fold it was easy.

We have a Mac techno, which 5 years ago was their nicest umbrella stroller. We still love it and use it all the time. I wold not hesitate to buy again. I find the fold very easy (and I have a city elite and a city mini double so I can compare). The city mini/elite is easier to fold (just pull the strap) but bulkier and more of a pain to handle. The Mac is lighter and easier, even though it is one more step to fold- you can still do the whole thing one handed.
That said, I haven't done stroller research in 5 years so I don't know what new stuff is out there.
We bought the G-Luxe for travel after DS got pretty heavy and it was harder for me to put him in the Ergo. It's great to have for flying and you can buy a bag that guarantees replacement if there's any damage from the flight (whether you gate check or check in before security). I've already had one piece of our Uppababy Vista stroller replaced without any questions b/c we have the bag for that too. It's great to have that peace of mind.
