they are fairly common with twins/triplets, etc = so i know many people in my multiples mom circles that have children with them. Some went away on their own, some got surgery, etc.
My DD1 was born with 2. One between her eyes--it did not really grown (stayed pretty tiny) & actually disappeared by 1yr. The other is on her stomach/side/rbs. It grew & grew & scared the shit out of me . Finally around 8mo it quite growing was quite raised & about the size of a half dollar. Gradually over the years it's lightened & flattened. She's 8.5yrs od now & it's discolored skin but not raised nor red anymore. As a baby it was discussed getting tests to see if she had more (since she had multiple) internally but we never did. Hope your DD is OK. I didn't know you could get them on your eye. With any luck maybe to resolve on it's own. Is it effecting her vision?
That's why they want us to see the ophthalmologist. Apparently in areas around the eye, what you can see on the surface may just be the tip of the iceberg and they may extend behind and under the eye. On her eyelid, it is hardly noticeable, but her eyelid does droop a bit and has a blue-ish tint to it, so they are concerned there is more underneath.
I had one that went away by the time I was two. I would get a few opinions. My normal pediatrician wanted to have it removed but my uncle (also a pediatrician) said to see if it went away on its own.

Good luck! I hope it's something that doesn't require major treatment. Keep us updated on what you find out.
I had one under my left eye. It looked like a scratch when I was born and quickly grew to the size of a large strawberry cut in half and laid sideways, with the tip in the corner of my eye.
It went away by the time I was 8, but my left eye appears smaller because my eyelid droops a bit on that side.
My parents took me to CHOP when I was a toddler and they assured them I would be fine. However, it did go away more slowly than they originally anticipated.

DD #2 had a hemangioma under one eye when she was an infant. It started as just a little bump under the skin, gradually became a red mark like a pimple, and eventually was the size of a nickel and purple. We were referred to both a pediatric opthamologist and dermatologist, to cover all of the bases. Neither thought it was a problem or that it was impacting her vision, so our course of action was to wait and see. Over time, she grew but it didn't and eventually it disappeared completely. She's 6 now and for the last couple of years, you'd never even know she had it.

Little HB has two on her head (underneath where her hair is, although you can see them b/c her hair is so fine)...like PP mentioned, the doctor said that they would stop growing by the time she was 1 year old, and would fade completely by the time she is 7/8 years old. She said not to worry, and referred us to a pedi dermatologist to look into them in case there has been any recent developments/changes in the field in treatment...
