So I brought home an extra suitcase full of shit. FULL. I could not put a pencil in either of the bags without them busting open.
Most were clothes that I desperately needed (thrift store and hand-me-downs) but what I was NOT expecting were an ipod nano and a nook.
Actual new technology? Whut?
I'm overwhelmed. And scared of how much I could spend on e-books in one go.
Oh, oh! One cool thing about the nano - it comes with a built-in fitness program with a pedometer and other tools. Really excited about that. Do people know about this? Did you know that tv's come in flat screen now?
I also struggle in the technology department. While others are happy getting their Ipads and tablets (DH included), I was just so excited to get a laptop again. My dad gave me his old Kindle and I just can't get into it.

Aren't you just precious, lol.
I know what you mean. I can't handle new technology. I like what I know and learning new tools frustrates me and makes me feel cool, all at the same time.
LOL. My mom got me an ipad for Christmas. I haven't used an apple product since I graduated high school. I've been randomly pushing buttons and figuring out what it does. I finally got it. H however, is still resisting touching it. He's the only IT phobic IT guy I know.
Also... I've been wanting a laptop for some time now, but never pulled the trigger since they're "so expensive". But, as part of my promotion, I was given access to work from home from time to time. So now I really want a laptop because all we have is a desktop computer which is kept in a corner of the cold basement. Imagine my surprise when I found that laptops are no longer $2k+. Yeah, I can get one that does what I need for <$500. Sweet! Now I just need for H to get a job so I can justify the purchase... I can't bring myself to buy a laptop when H is unemployed, even if he was given generous UE benefits (UE check will be the same as his take home at his job).
Gault.. I have solved my expensive e book problem by the library. My library has ebooks that you can check out through kindle or epub. I average a book or two a week and over the holidays I read 5 for free. I am also talking about good books new releases to crime and historical fiction not just romance novels. Amazon also has a ton of free books too.

I have the library's website bookmarked on my kindle. If I can find time to sit and read quietly (usually after DS goes to bed) I can go through a good sized book every couple of weeks, and usually have at least one more on standby. I've had my kindle for about 2 weeks now and I'm on my 3rd book.
That's exciting! The Fitness app on the Nano is nike plus. You'll want to set up a nike plus account at www.nikeplus.com. If you can, do your first run/walk somewhere that is marked (or where you know how far it is) because you may need to calibrate it to your pace. Apparently I'm so slow or have a weird pace that when I did a 5k it said I did 7. After that, you can basically track all your runs/walks and when you sync to iTunes, it will ask you if you want to send your workouts to nikeplus. Then you can log into your nikeplus account and see all your workouts and your mileage and your fastest miles and stuff. It's pretty cool.
