I know I am going to want a Kindle by June to have while I am nursing. I read a lot while I am nursing and I toughed it out with library books and big old paperbacks when I was nursing DD and it was a gigantic pain. I am definitely getting a Kindle, probably a Paperwhite, to have with this baby.
I kind of want it now though so I can start to use the Kindle lending library on Amazon... and because I am impatient. LOL.
Is it worth it to go ahead and get it now or will prices drop/will they come out with a better model by June? I feel like since the Paperwhite just came out it's unlikely, right?
I just got the Paperwhite for Christmas and I love it. I wish I would have had it when I was bfing my kids. I'm not sure about the price dropping, but wanted to say that the Kindle Lending Library isn't great. You can only get one book a month and the books they have aren't ones I'm really interested in reading. It's still such a great device though. I'm loving the kindle daily deals- I've bought 3 or 4 of their daily deals already. It's really easy to get a book from the library too.

As far as the model goes, I have a second or third generation Kindle and feel no envy for the newer ones. I don't want touch, I don't need it to be smaller or lighter, I don't want it to be a tablet. I just want to read books, which I can do on my model, so for me that wouldn't be a concern.
Price might drop a little, but the enjoyment I got out of using mine before the price dropped was worth the extra money I spent.

I agree, get it now! I got my first Kindle two months before DD was born (intending to use it while nursing) & used it a ton at dr. appointments since I had to go for NSTs twice a week. I probably could have waited & got a better deal but I'm glad I had it earlier.
I haven't used the Amazon library but get a ton of books from my local library system's ebook collection since I can do 10 books at a time for 3 weeks. Make sure to see if your library has the same option.

I had an older keyboard kindle. I now have a paperwhite. I LOVE the paperwhite. The built in book light is amazing. I often read while the kids are napping or at night.
I think you should get it now. And FWIW, the selection for DeKalb sucks. I use my MD library account instead.
Thanks--that's crappy, but good to know regardless. I have a friend in Fulton and they have an awesome selection. I should move.
You could also pay $35/year for access to the Library of Philadelphia for access to their ebooks. They are supposed to have a great selection. Might be a MM option. Certainly more MM than moving.

That's a great idea! I have been looking at their selection and it's pretty great. Thanks!
I'd just get it now. Like someone else said, I have an older model (it's 2 years old) and it's so great that I have zero desire for an upgrade. I can't imagine what would come out in June that would be better than what's available now. I have other gadgets for other things, my Kindle is for reading and any version is going to be just perfect for that.
I have found the lending library to be hit or miss. I wouldn't say to buy Prime just for it, but if you already have Prime for other reasons it's a nice extra perk. I just finished reading a book I borrowed from it, and another book that I saw recommended somewhere is next on my list. There are actually TONS of books in the lending library, though most are not current bestsellers there are a lot of other decent books available.
I love my Kindle and they cost less now than they did 2 years ago - and I still feel what I paid 2 years ago was worth every penny. Buy one immediately!

I understand where you're coming from, because the Paperwhite came out 3 weeks after I bought my Kindle. That said, I'd go ahead and get it now because you'll probably get enough enjoyment out of it that it will be worth it-- while I have Paperwhite envy, I really like my device. Plus, the monthly/daily sales can be good, so you might be able to stockpile a couple of books for later (not really MM unless they're books you want anyway).

Amazon seems to do a new model once a year, before the holidays. I doubt a new model will come in the next six months, as the Paperwhite was new for this holiday season.
