Is there any reason I need to keep old copies of bills? I pay most of them online, but I still get a paper bill. I know I could go paperless, but I like the paper reminder.
Also, do I need to shred them or can I just tear them in half and toss them?
like the electric or cable bill? I just keep the last one so I have it if I need to call, it's easier with the phone number and account number on it. I guess you could just make a list of your account numbers too.
Shred. Can't you find other ways to get the reminder? Your phone alert, put it on your calendar, etc? It's such a waste to get the paper bill these days.
I just keep the latest one that shows my most resent payment that posted. When I new one comes in I shred the old one. I just like keeping them temporarily so that I have proof of my payment.

I don't bother keeping them because I can look them up online if needed.
And I don't bother shredding either. What is someone going to do with my cable account number? Order service that only I would see if it showed up on my TV, etc?
I keep my bills. I can be really forgetful, so it really helps if I can flip back and see the date I paid the bill and how (online vs check). I am also used to my old Internet provider that didn't work half the time, so online records weren't that easy to access at the spur of a moment.
