I had an appointment at my OB's office this morning, and my mom came up to go with me, after all the craziness last week! Here is the update: Baby passed the NST for the first time in WEEKS. Then I had an appointment with the physicians assistant, bc my doctor is out of town still on her ski trip. The PA had scheduled me for inducement on the 7th after I left the office last week, and I was not very happy that she had done that without talking to me about it. Not to mention that my real dr doesn't even come back to work till the 7th, so I wouldn't even have a chance to see her before being induced. So during the appointment today, I basically said that I was NOT ok with being induced on the 7th and told her that I didn't appreciate her making that decision based on NOTHING, without talking to me, or my actual doctor, and that I wanted to have a chance to go into labor on my own, bc i know that being induced often things dont progress and you have to have a c section, so I do not want to be induced till the 12th. She replied that she "thinks the baby is big" ( based on what? She didn't have an answer) and if I put off being induced then he might be too big to deliver vaginally and that will result in a c section anyway. I told her that was a chance I was willing to take. She then said " well the diabetes is a concern also" and I asked her what exactly she was concerned about, bc my sugars have been fine. And she said that even if my sugar was fine, that the baby was getting extra sugar and getting BIGGER every day. (Yeah, all babies get bigger every day ....) Then she said "and you never know, with the diabetes, the cord could be wrapped around the neck." Whoa whoa whoa.... Hold the phone... DO NOT USE SCARE TACTICS ON ME... I am not a freaking idiot, and I know that there is not a correlation to diabetes, and having the cord around the baby's neck! I told the PA that the things she was saying were not correlated, and I was not willing to discuss this further with her. I noted an appointment when my dr returns and I will discuss things with her after that.
I also had a growth scan, they said the baby is NOT huge, he was around 8 pounds according to the ultrasound, which can be off by up to a pound. The ultrasound tech said that 8 pounds at 38 1/2 weeks is not cause for concern.
I go back on Friday for another NST, and have an appointment with my dr on Monday. I want to meet my baby, but not be forced into something that I am not comfortable with, especially when there is not a reason to be pushing for me to have him early!
So that's the update! If you have things that you did to make yourself go into labor, let me know, bc I'm worried that the dr is going to push harder for induction when I see her on Monday....
Also, I might ask her to strip my membranes in order to see if that gets things moving... Anything to avoid induction at this point....
