Call your insurance companies! Mine will cover 1 pump every 36 months, IN FULL.
This is a new benefit. I'm so happy I called to get all of the details.
I just need my doctor to sign a form (which the in-network medical equipment supplier emailed to me), check the box for the Medela pump, and it will arrive within 3-5 days.
The order can't be placed until the baby is here, but I'm willing to rent for a week or try and go without if need be.
If you are unsure if you have this benefit, CALL! It's not listed in my policy's benefits summary. It's really a "fine print" benefit. You have to dig around to find out what's covered here.

I called last week to ask about this and was told all insurance companies will be required to cover breast pumps starting in March as a part of the new health care reform.

Some are only covering manual pupmps, unfortunately.

Your hospital might have an approved medical supply store in it, DH was able to walk downstairs to pick up my pump before we were discharged. They also offered to send it up to my room.

Well that would suck. I haven't called the participating provider to see which pump is covered yet.
I just called today, too. Mine will cover a pump with no price limit as long as it is purchased from a medical supplier. Unfortunately I'm having trouble getting through to any of the companies they gave me to contact about purchasing one. Going to try again tomorrow.
That is awesome! I had the Medela Freestyle and I loved it. It was so easy to use, small and portable. If you are a working mom I would look into that.
Thanks for the reminder - I called mine this morning and as long as I get the pump from an in-network medical supplier, they will cover it in full. Worth the 15-minute phone call!

Yeah, mine only covers a manual pump, but I'm definitely calling my OB to see if I can get a prescription for it. It would be nice to have a backup in case my regular pump poops out.
I just called. Thanks for the reminder. Mine will cover 30 days before the baby is due. Through edgepark they are covering Hygeia Enjoye. The other company they offer them through is Genadyne. I am going to call them later and see what brands they cover.

I love my Hygeia Enjoye. See if you can get the LBI. It's the one with an internal rechargeable battery. It's louder than others, but it can really suck (in a good way).
Yay! Just called and my policy allows for one manual or electric pump per pregnancy with no cost or brand restrictions and no restrictions on where I buy it! Shields, adapters, and tubing are also covered at 100%. Hospital-grade renting is covered!
AND one visit by a lactation consultant (can be a home visit) is covered. More if there is a medical necessity.

Genadyne covers the Melodi Advanced Plus. Just got off the phone with them this morning.
