DH's family invited us to Hawaii in June, but we didn't want to spend that kind of money for 4 of us to be shoved in one bedroom. With my IL's. But Hawaii would be fun!
I think we are going to do a mini-vacation in March to Monterey/Carmel and going to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. And probably LA in the summer, maybe June - but that most definitely wouldn't be a vacation for you. How about SF? Lots of kid related stuff you could do. A kid friendly resort in Mexico?

I forget about central CA. I've never been to Monterey Bay. Hawaii would be awesome if we could get a good enough deal but it might be a stretch.
I second the Bay Area. I'd never considered it before, but have good friends who regularly take the kids to Napa/Sonoma. Apparently there are a lot of cool vineyards that have kids stuff (stomping on grapes, learning about how they grow, etc.) It would be cool for H, and obviously fun for you guys too (albeit a slightly muted wine tasting tour with two kids:)
Agree that Monterey aquarium is awesome, so keep that area in the list too. Fun!

If you've never been to Monterey that would be super fun! H would LOVE exploring the tide pools I bet.

If you head up north I'd pick the discovery museum in the Bay Area!! H would love it and it's really fun for all ages I think.
If you're looking for a family friendly beach, look no further than Honchoville, MI! Small town + tons of beaches within walking distance + lots of family friendly activities (carousel, splash pad, tons of parks, etc) + Honcho family = the time of your life!
Obviously your kids need to see the Nation's Capital. It's the NATION'S CAPITAL, ffs.
Listen miss wait list... :-p Actually DHs bestie is in Baltimore but they will have 2 under 2 come May/June so I doubt that location would happen this year.
Ruby - I think I might be afraid of cruise ships. But childcare could sway me!
Some all inclusives in Mexico and the Caribbean have childcare. Almost all of them have toddler and kids programs too during the day included in the package but I'm not sure what age those start at, I think 3 to 4 or potty trained.
Dahli, don't be afraid! Cruising is the best vacation ever! I've been on 8 cruises, but never on Disney. I've heard it's a really nice line though. Cruising has everything - good food, drinks, casino (although Disney doesn't have that), live music, entertainment, pools, etc!! And then you get to visit different destinations and go exploring or to the beach, etc. You should talk to Muppet if you do consider it. She just went on a Disney cruise. Also, we can file this under the ridiculous fears thread if you prefer.
Also, I just checked Royal Caribbean's site, and they have childcare too starting at 6 months. I'm dying to go on the Oasis of the Seas! You should check it out. Cruising is the best!
I've never been on a cruise but I think that will change now that we tarted our family. They just seem much more enticing/ simpler/relaxing than dealing with air travel. I say get in a boat!

Jersey Shore! And bring your MIL! ;D
No, totally go with what Ruby said. Disney cruises are the absolute best. Hands down. Cruising is awesome and Disney is the best of the best. I have been on Disney, Royal Caribbean and Carnival if you have any questions. I would avoid Carnival like the plague.
I second Trudy, the Cape is wonderful and so family friendly. Although, it won't be beach weather in the Spring but if you were willing wait a few months the summer months are an absolute dream. You could also stay on the Cape and take the ferry to Martha's Vineyard.
I was also going to say southern Maine is wonderful. We go every year as my in-laws have a house on the beach. Beach rentals are expensive but worth it. You get a house right on the beach, a full kitchen and the comforts of home. Plus, there are trollies so you don't have to drive once you get to a house.
Their house is in Wells, but Kittery and Kennebunkport are also popular locations.

I'm loving Ruby's enthusiasm for cruising! It looks like there is a Disney cruise from LA to Canada. We could visit Probies at each port :-) The Cape sounds great, some sort of small town Americana deal sounds nice. But far, sigh.
Haha! I do get overly enthusiastic about cruising. I'll take myself down a notch now.
If you do look into the Canada cruise check the weather first for that time of year. I cruised to Canada once and it was a little cold to enjoy the pools.
You could meet Smudgee and rxbeth and dojo though! I'm jeal!
