But if you just know someone does that make them an acquaintance? A friend?
At what point does a regular friend/acquaintance become a "relationship." Are you in relations with your boss because you know them? Or relations with your local barista?
Duh, it is not that complicated. I'm asking because 1) I was surprised at how many people didn't count relationships in the serious relationships poll 2) My gfs and I were talking about relationships and how they are defined today
I'd define a romantic relationship as 2 (or more) people who've agreed to be bonded together with the title of relationship. They agree upon ground rules (like not seeing other people, if monogamous), and would refer to the other person as a girlfriend/boyfriend/significant other.
I've had many romantic relationships by these rules, but I've only had 1 serious romantic relationship.
I think a romantic relationship is anything that evolves into kissing or sleeping together. If you hang out with a guy and make out with them then to me that's a romantic relationship.
