...being able to crank the radio and sing at the top of my lungs at any hour of the day.
I'm feeling the need to beat some stress right now and I'm not about to get in the car to sing my heart out. Friggin' apartment living! My upstairs neighbors are incredibly respectful and deal with a lot already since DH is a percussionist.
DH criticizes us so much for drive through ATMs! They're great in the north when it's wicked cold out though! He'd understand if he had felt -20 any time in his life.
We haven't left yet, but I know I'm going to miss red vines. I don't eat them a ton as it is, but when I do, they're so good!
H is convinced that I can find them at an American grocer in London, but I swear they don't even carry red vines on the east coast. I'm probably just going to have to go to costco to get a 5lb tub and then ask my mom to send some over every so often.

Of all of these, I miss paying at the pump. I never really used drive through ATMs anyways and I hate redvines :-)
I miss good taco seasoning though (I still have about 6 oz left from my last trip to the spice shop that has the best taco seasoning in the world) and affordable good BBQ sauce I don't need to make myself.
I miss being plugged into the local Latino community (in NY). I am extremely disappointed that of all the Latin Americans I know in Paris, not a single one has any idea if there's a Three Kings' Parade in Paris this weekend. In NY, I would not have to spend hours on the internet trying to find out something like this. I'd have a kitchen full of Goya products, to boot, and the ladies at the local grocery store would be calling DD "princesa."

Almost all the time I've lived in the States has been in my parents' house, so what I miss is the privacy that comes with having your own house and not any shared walls/ceilings/floors. I also miss delicious, fresh (free!) salsa at our local Mexican places. There are 3 Mexican places in the town I live and they all use canned salsa. :-(

I've started making my own. It's a copycat of chilis salsa and it's really good!
I also miss paying at the pump because when it's just dd in the carer with me I dint want to get her out or leave her while I go in to pay. I have to maker sure I fill up the car on the weekend when Dh is in the car with me.
I miss driving my car with the music on and H sitting next to me. I love driving, especially when it gets dark. The streets feel so familiar that I could drive around with my eyes closed. But Rome is too beautiful to miss at night

Add me to the list of good Mexican missers. I make my own salsa, and it's really good, but I miss the good stuff at the restaurants -- and thin restaurant-style chips. All we have are the thick bagged Tostitos.
But being in the US for a month has made me miss things from Australia too -- especially fruit & vegetable department at the grocery. I love being able to buy things individually, especially single stalks of celery. I NEVER use a whole celery before it goes bad.
I also miss mexican food, and pay-at-the-pump. And being able to go to one store (like Target) and get stuff I need, instead of going to 4 different shops in 2 towns, striking out at three of them, placing an Amazon order and waiting a week (and paying twice as much for what I needed in the first place).
I miss a number of friends who are scattered in various parts of the globe now. I am so glad that social networks allow us to basically keep in touch, but I miss catching up with a number of lovely people in person.
I miss a certain London creperie that I've loved for years. I've never found another one like it anywhere.
There are some other things that I miss from my younger years as well, but I'm generally a "live for today and tomorrow, be happy where you are" kind of person.
So lucky! I bought some Red Vines last time I was in the US. They sell them at the shop just down the street from me, but a little 5oz package costs around $6!
I miss grocery-store birthday cake with white icing. I have been known to order myself a cake when the grocery doesn't have cupcakes or small pre-made sheet cakes. "Can I get a 1/8 yellow sheet cake with vanilla frosting?" "Sure. What do you want on it?" "Just some flowers I guess." "Color?" "I don't care. Yellow." (thinking that won't have much food coloring) "And what should it say?" "Uh... 'I like cake?'"

Hey, come to the Bilbao metro area tomorrow! DH is leading the local school kids in a percussion group. It's us, the Guardia Civil, and the Reyes! Free roscón or bollos after (depending on recortes.)

Sooo tempting! I just searched airfare to Bilbao and it's over 200 Euros per person, plus requires a layover in Barcelona. Waaaa!
On a friend's advice, I called the Spanish embassy here to ask if they knew of a Reyes parade and the woman who answered acted as if I were confused about what country I was living in.

Ha!
And are you talking about the whipped frosting? Because I could eat a swimming pool full of that stuff. While back in the States this summer I picked up some mini cupcakes with whipped icing several times and ate them all myself. I had to stop myself from glaring at DH once when he ate a couple.

At first it was the whipped cream frosting. The admin staff at our Texas office always chose it for birthday/farewell cakes, and I loved it. But after 5 years out of the US, even the sugary grocery buttercream is a tasty treat.
When I first moved here, I was so excited that all the farewell cakes were these wonderful marzipan-coated berry & cream filled delicacies. But since I never have it, damn if I don't miss a cheap grocery cake once in a while!
ETA - This craving started about the same time as the CakeWrecks blog. Coincidence? I think not!
Yes! This! It's such a pain to have to get gas when DS is in the car. I try to avoid it at all costs.
I miss NY pizza and bagels and flavoured coffeemate (especially the holiday flavours). I can find French vanilla and hazelnut but those get boring after a while.
