I had my bloodwork done 2 weeks ago, and the nurse called today to tell me they found strep in my urine. I've never heard of this so I asked her about it, and all she stated was that I was just a carrier and would need antibiotics when I give birth so I don't pass it on to the baby. Ack! Anyone else experience this?
That is super early! Usually you're tested somewhere around 30 weeks (vague recollections of this only).
Anyway, I was strep B+ last time around. All it meant was that if my water leaked/broke in any capacity I had to go to the hospital immediately, whether or not I was having contractions, to have labour started and antibiotics.
It's pretty common to be a strep b carrier, don't worry about it!
