I just did this the first time today. It never occurred to me before. Duh. Both kids went down at 1pm and DS2 woke up after an hour. I got him out since he was all worked up. He had a quick BF and then was still rubbing his eyes and whining so I thought what the heck. And put him back in, and he's still sleeping. As is DS1. It's my lucky day
Has this happened to you? Do you do this ever?
ETA: and I'm really glad they are still napping because now it's 115 degrees and I don't know what to do with them. We've been home all day
This is a new thing with Lily - she wakes up crying and I toss her on the boob and she's on the express train to sleepy town. Wakes with a smile every time!

HAHA! Do you sometimes find her standing in bed? That's what DS2 does when he's really pissed off in there. He stands then gets all riled up. I wonder if I've been doing it wrong this whole time by getting him up?! jeez.

I try. Sometimes it works, other times she just won't go back to sleep so I let her play until she's tired enough.
Yeah same here. DD fights sleep, but occasionally when she wakes prematurely, her and I both know she needs to sleep more. I'll give her some boob then put her back down.

I used to with DD all the time, she took way too short naps if I wasn't holding her. I haven't done it for naps with DS, but once in awhile he'll wake between 6 and 7 in the morning, which is too early for him, and instead of getting up I lay in bed with him until he goes back to sleep. I did it this morning because he was grumping so much through his morning nursing session, I didn't want to deal with him.
We're at the opposite extreme temp wise over here, it was single digits F yesterday (negative with the wind chill). I don't think we've left the house all week.
Audrey used to take long morning naps. Then about two months ago she started waking up after 30 or 40 minutes so I would go get her. One day I was working when she woke up and needed to finish something so I let her lay in the crib a bit (she doesn't cry when she wakes up). Well, after 30min she fell back asleep for another hour! Now I always give her 15-20 min after her nap to see if she's still sleepy.
