Is it flameful that I can't figure it out? We changed our health plans, and some checks parking comes out of. So overall how much? I don't even know! My check went up $30 but my pre tax deductions went down, thats why.
Dh and I both changed several of our withholdings, so I won't really notice the difference that much and like PP, I can't figure it out when I tried. I'm an accountant, so that makes me feel really dumb!

I won't get my first paycheck until next week and my annual raise will kick in at the same time so I'll probably never figure it out. I'm just hoping to at least come out even between the two. DH is hard to figure out too since he works verying amounts of overtime each pay period.

I get a raise next week too! But it won't make up the difference. And I kind of frea it's going to put me in a higher tax bracket so my paycheck may go DOWN after this raise.

We get our first paycheck on the 10th. We were told that so far, the only thing going up is social security, which I don't pay because I get a pension. I am curious to see my next pay stub and compare it to my last one.
Mine isn't affected yet. I don't pay into social security. In fact, when the payroll tax was cut two years ago and people started making more because of the tax cuts, I actually lost about $80 a month somehow.

Lots of older employees here that are under a different retirement plan also don't pay into SS so their paychecks are the same.

the FSA contribution cut and the 2% thing kind of balanced out so DHs check wasn't that different. Now we only have $2500 pre tax for medical expenses now though. Thanks Obamacare.
Well I just recieved a 15% raise (I'm now doing 2 people's jobs for only a slight increase, :/ ) But my paycheck only went up $80 bi-weekly. So I'm not good at figuring out the difference with the Social Security change. We did receive an email saying that the Social Security tax changed from 4.5% to 6.5%.
ok, so I live under a rock. What has changed?, I thought that we were fine. Can someone explain to this idiot please.
Income taxes are staying the same for the sat majority of Americans. Only those earning more than 400k individually or 450k jointly are being taxed at a higher rate, which is roughly 4% more. However, the payroll tax break which was initiated two years ago is lapsing. If you recall your paychecks being slightly higher two years ago, that was the reason why. The payroll tax cut was a temporary tax break in social security taxes. So if you pay into social security, you will be paying the same percentage that you did two years ago because congress did not keep those tax cuts in the deal.

Yes FICA/Social SEcurity is going back to 6.2% of your gross income It was temporarily 4.2% as a tax break for the last two years..
Im going to be all sorts of hurting on my first check.. LO is now on my health insurance.. I've signed up for FSA and the 2% oi...... The 2% will be about $60 a month for me individually... plus $300 for insurance.. plus 100$ for fsa... UGGGGG
ohh! ok so I'll be down an extra 2%? That's not bad.
I signed up for FSA and had the insurance in 2012, but this year hubby is doing both so my first check of 2013 will probably look great! However it doesn't really matter because we have a joint account anyway so either way, we're paying $400/mth in health insurance. FSA unfortunately maxes out at 5k in a year, bastards. That's oh.. 3 months of daycare whoopdedoo. Oh well, better than nothing!
