Totally agree about the other side of the bed needing a nightstand/small table, and when they don't match I like to do a matching pair of lamps on them for symmetry. Do you have a pair somewhere in the house you can bring in? And I agree the boobilicious mirrors need to go from above the bed; I'd just do one in the room. Really like the ideas for one large scale piece above the bed or a gallery wall or even 3 large square framed prints above the bed (botanicals ripped from a book?); I'd just keep the scale of whatever you choose on the large side to balance the chunkiness of the furniture. Agree on painting the walls this spring (all of them; personally I don't care for accent walls)...I've had luck with Martha Stewart's toasted marshmallow and, with its very slight green undertones, I think it would look great with your fabrics.
Other ideas: *Have you thought of removing the mirror from the dresser and using it elsewhere? Just a personal preference in order to play down the "set" feeling in a bedroom (full disclosure: I don't like the often high cost or matchy-ness of bedroom sets; I like mixing pieces). Do you have a full length mirror (with a frame at least as thick as your trim) that could go between the bathroom & closet doors?
*Can the high boy dresser go in the closet? Is it difficult to view the tv at that height? I've found high boys can be tricky to decorate with when you don't have a narrow wall to "frame" them. The long dresser would look great across from the bed because it anchors the heaviness of the bed opposite it. And it would look quite pretty when you enter the room if, from left to right, you put a large scale vase, the tv, and a lamp mixed with your other belongings, with your sunburst mirror above it all. It might be nice to have that long wall empty when you walk in the room so the window nook -- which I think is the best part of the room -- is maximized.
*If the high boy has to stay because you need the storage, can it move over to the right a smidge, can the floor lamp go to the left of it, and could the chair go to the left of the floor lamp so it is to the right of the window, mabye slightly angled toward the windows with an ottoman in front of it? Then do you have a small table/stool to put to the left of the chair and under the window? I'd also put a (live) plant in the corner between the windows to finish that area out.
*Alternatively, you could put the high boy on the long wall but keep it from looking like it is floating in no mans land by putting it to the left of the window on that wall. As for putting the bed on that wall, I wouldn't because I personally don't like to walk into a bedroom to see the side of a bed in front of me. I've found even if you are Martha it is hard to make the bedding look good from the side.
*I'd put the pillow on the chair with the matching one on the bed, and one from your decor stash on the chair (with a throw, too, if you have it). If you have a down duvet & cover, I'd fold it at the end of your bed and tuck your green bedspread in all the way around if you have a bedskirt/bedframe; if no duvet, I'd put your throw at the end of your bed. I figure that since a bed is always going to be the focal point of the room, might as well make it look layered & luxurious, especially in the winter....
*Agree with the ideas for fabric somewhere near the windows. What about pelmet boxes a la Jenny @ Little Green notebook mounted at the ceiling? Or diy faux roman shades? You'd get the height and drama of the eye going there when you walk in the room without compromising your view.
I agree, the mirrors look like a pair of eyes to me. I would get rid of them, or hang them on either side of the bed over the nightstand. Do you have a small table you could put on the other side of the bed? You need to have a pair of nightstands. The mirrors hung above would give some symmetry.
I'd get rid of the tall dresser completely...put the chair in that corner where the dresser is and add a little side table. Put the tall black lamp behind the chair...add a throw and a pillow to dress it up and make a nice reading area.
Is your H opposed to curtains that are just for looks...just a pair of drapes hung that you never actually close, and that don't cover any of the window?? Cause that would finish off the room...your windows is nekkid.
I would change out the striped chair for the black one. Add black accessories to the dressers and and swap black pillows for the Euroshams on the bed. I would also paint the wall that the bed is on in a rich black stripe. Wide stripes will add a graphic punch. I would also add a bold graphic rug in black and white. I think black and white will make the pretty green bedding pop.
