My aunt has been watching LO since I went back to work 6 months ago. We've always known it was a temporary situation and this morning she told me she found a job and she starts in 1 week. My son loves her so much. I'm in tears at my desk. I'm just so sad for him. We don't have backup childcare because center's around here won't hold spots. Plus, we didn't know how long it would take her to get a job. I'm warding off a panic attack. I feel sick and crazy. I just want my baby to feel secure and loved and happy while I'm at work. I don't know what to do but I only have one week to do it. This sucks :-(
Aw, I'm sorry. He will be okay no matter where you put him! Im sure there are many excellent providers who will love and care for him like your aunt does.
Oh hon, I feel for you. There really is a bright side though- he's old enough now to really enjoy being with other kids if you choose a daycare environment, and your instincts now will help you find just the right place for him. I suspect we'll be in the same boat in a few months, and I keep telling myself that it's so much better now at 8-9 months than if we'd had to find somewhere when they were tiny. Hugs- this is so hard.

Thanks, ladies. It really is so hard. DS1 went to daycare but I didn't suffer from anxiety then. The center he went to is full and DS2 wouldn't likely get in until he's 4 or 5. It's just a hard transition. I'm going to have to pull myself together or I won't be able to function at all. Thanks again for the kind words.

Change in childcare is so hard! We have always had a nanny come and watch the kids while I work from home and when they change I always have a panic attack but it always turns out well! If it's an option to have a provider come to your home, I've been really happy with care.com! Good luck!
Oh man I'm so sorry! What a crappy situation, I don't blame you for being stressed out. It will be okay though! Lots of ladies on here have nothing but fantastic things to say about the daycare providers they use, and I am sure he will adjust wonderfully.
Awwww, honey bun, I am so sorry! I would be pretty out of sorts too! Hope something wonderful falls in your lap soon!
It did! One of my very good friends is staying home with her 2yr old until she has her new baby in April. She's going to watch Chubbs for me so that I have 3 months to find a new sitter or daycare center. She lives in the opposite direction of my job but I'll just have to make it work. It'll mean another transition in 3 months but it's worth it to me to keep him out of a center til he's at least 1. I'm very fortunate that she's willing to keep him for me.
Wow, she only gave you one week of notice? That sucks, esp. if she knew that centers wouldn't hold spots and you didn't have backup arrangements.
I'm glad you found someone who could keep him!
Yeah, she was able to keep him because she got laid off. She really needs the money so I understand the short notice and am appreciative for the time she gave us. I'm really lucky that my friend can keep him.
