They feel confident that I am safe without the shots until we get an additional cervical measurement next week. (They want a few days to pass.) The cardiologist cleared Procardia, which they originally wanted to avoid because of my heart. But after discussion they really want to avoid the shots because they can induce PVCs (arrhythmia) which I already have. My heart can sustain the length of PVC runs I current have but it sounds like they don't think it would be smart to risk increasing them. They opted for the anti-contraction meds instead and will start shots in a few days if the measurements show my cervix actively shortening.
I'm comfortable with their decisions. I saw SO many doctors today. OBs x3, Peri, Cardio. They all met and made these decisions.
I was a bit in the dark unsure of "why" but now understand more of what the plan is.
Home on bed rest until the next measurements are done. My office is next door to the hospital (where peri's office is as well) so I might be allowed back at work if cervix shows no shortening. I sit at a desk all day.
I'm feeling pretty positive now.
Thanks for all of the insight and support over the past day and a half. I was a wreck. I broke down a bit this morning when my husband came back to the hospital. That was a good release.
Off to make a list of what I want to stream on Amazon Prime.

I am glad it sounds like you are in good hands. I can certainly understand why they are holding off on shots, they need to make sure your health is good as well.
Also, as a lot of girls have mentioned on here they had contractions w/out going into labor right away. I know that I was having contractions at 34 weeks, but didn't go into labor until 39. Hopefully baby boy cloudbee stays cooking a while longer!
Glad you have a plan, Cloudbee. I think it sounds like there is a good chance that you will do just fine and have a term baby boy. I'm glad you have a great team of people looking after you!
So it sounds like you passed the FFN? That's great! And as I said above, there is no reason not to do the shots unless they conflict with your heart issues. My advice was in general more than directly for you. Glad you have so many people looking out for you!

Thanks, lilly. I'm feeling much better about the situation now. I think it is just an annoyance for the remainder of the pregnancy, that might keep me off my feet a bit. I hope I get off bed rest next week!

I'm glad you're home and doing better!!
Enjoy a weekend of movies on the couch :-). I'm sure bed rest can be miserable, but at least enjoy the change of scenery from the hospital, and the comfort of being in your own home!!
I'm so glad you're home and have a good plan in place.
I really wouldn't try to work. It's more important to rest and keep that baby cooking. Even "sitting at a desk all day" can have emotional stress, which is just as bad as physical stress. I had already planned on being a SAH and leaving my job at 38 weeks (I wanted to finish the nursery, cook some freezer meals, etc...). But when I went into pre-term labor at 36 weeks I quit the next day and voluntarily stayed on bed rest until I delivered at 40 weeks. I completely think that decision is what made me able to carry him to full term. Keeping that baby cooking is the most important thing right now. If you can swing it financially, I wouldn't go back to work. It's just not worth it.

I'm just shy of 3 months from my due date. If I stay home voluntarily, even if cleared to go back by my doctor, I will have no time after birth to stay home with my baby. There's no way I can stomach doing that if my doctor says it's safe for me to return. It's not about money, it's about having a job when I return. I can't just take an extra 3 months off.
Any chance of working out a work from home agreement for a few weeks. I was put on modified bed rest at 34 weeks. I asked specifically for the midwife to write a note that I could work half days if from home because if I went full term I wouldn't of had the sick time to cover it. I still took full days when I had appointments. They wouldn't of let me work half days without the note due to liability. Also has anyone ever taken an extended leave at your company? We have 16 weeks standard, but a lot of preemie moms get it extended to 20/24. Pretty much every rule at our company can be reconsidered, especially the longer you've been there. My manager has been out over 6 months (different circumstances, cancer treatment) and they haven't even considered filling his position even though the rules say it could be filled.
