sorry to add more to the subject...
has anyone dealt with vasospasms/Raynauds? I have near constant nipple soreness (DD is EBF, over 3 months) and constantly have the white/red/purple cycling in my nipples. has anyone had success with supplements for this? I was thinking of starting them asap. I do have Raynauds of the hands and poor circulation, as well as being very fair skinned, which I have heard can make BFing more painful. I am definitely not going to give up, but it would be nice to be able to not always feel sore!
What helps me some is just to make sure I'm as warm as possible and cover my boob up right after feeding. It comes and goes depending on the temp outside--I have it worse when it's colder.
I had no idea raynauds was associated with bf pain. It certainly explains why since the winter hit my nipples have been super tender and sensitive again.
Yes, I had it in response to nipple trauma. I had waves of pain that would radiate up and down the entire front of my body. Showering was hell and there was a point where I thought I'd never be able to go a day without taking Advil ever again. My nipple would turn pure white and I was convinced I had thrush before I actually got help.
I had to heal completely and wait it out. It was an almost 4 month ordeal till I could nurse completely free of pain, long after the cuts were healed.
Hugs. It totally sucks and I still look back on that time and shutter.
Temperature doesn't seem to affect me, except when walking from a really warm to really cold spot. Normal changes I am ok with - the vasospasms don't seem to be causing direct pain, but I wonder if the residual soreness is due to them.
