Caryl, your response was perfect, classy and well though out. I think your coset looks great. I could never decide what to wear with that many options but you do it well..
Unrelated but shortstax, your siggy made me cook pancakes this morning. True story.
mmmm, pancakes
I'm still convinced that my low carb diet from back in 2011 (when a ton of people on the board were reading What Makes Us Fat and what to do about it) was completely derailed soley because I'd stare at the pancakes in my avatar while posting on the nest.
v brought up the e-ring thread. it truly was gross.
posters decided, based on a PIP of a ring, that the piece couldn't possibly be worth $25k. because these posters simply could not wrap their minds around the price tag, they decided the OP's husband must have bought her a fake diamond or otherwise lied to her about the price. they called her h an idiot and claimed that the reason he didn't want to insure the ring (for $$$) was because he didn't want his wife to know the true value. when the poster deactivated her account, there was some more taunting - and "omg, I must have been right. if she was being honest she would have stayed and defended herself."
I just read the whole thing wide-eyed and terrified to share any personal details.
I almost forgot the funniest part - after the poster deactivated, the whispers continued but now people thought, based on the specs posted, the ring HAD TO HAVE been worth well more than $25k--so, duh, it was obvs. fake! hypothesis confirmed!
I cannot believe people were giving shit for not being color organized. I should post a photo of my clothes: one tiny closet, some random stuff in a laundry basket and two sir organized drawers in an armoir DH and I share lol.
I, too, thought of posting my closet. it would apparently give some a heart attack.
1) I don't even have my own closet - my boyfriend and I share one. 2) it's also used to store random shit like christmas lights 3) nothing is color coordinated 4) the shelf is definitely bowing 5) I'm pretty sure at least one sweater is hanging inside out because I didn't feel like fixing it after I pulled it out of the dryer.
I've thought about not using boxes but then my shoes get all dusty. (Another first world problem.) And until I come up with a better shelving situation, they're easier to stack and store in the boxes for now.
This makes perfect sense. I just got into shoes (never been very fashionable) so I don't have that problem...yet haha. Love your collection though.
ETA: Could you use something like a book shelf but keep them in the boxes so you don't have to stack them on top of each other? It might make it easier than trying to pull one out from the bottom.
FTR if you have a system that works for you, don't listen to any of us (me included). I just have my own opinion but it doesn't mean it works for everyone.
Yes, my shoe shelves need replacing bad. If you look at the initial photo, I've basically doubled my shoe collection since then. I clearly did not plan for expansion! But, I'm looking for a better solution to this. I just haven't seen anything that's jumped out at me yet.
Everything in the room is organized by type and color. Even my shoes, and the photos on the boxes help me with this. You got it right though that I am totally a stripe and pattern whore, so it doesn't photograph as color coordinated as all solid color clothing would look.
You are sweet! I feel bad that I'm getting lumped in with the critical jerks in this post but I suppose I deserve it. I will admit to having a thing for tidy appearances, but that is purely my own deal and is no reflection on you. Thanks for being understanding!

eat your hearts out, suckas!
Sounds like my closet....oh and add a whole shitload of TOMS ;D

And there were a few "That ring is ugly" comments to round the whole thing out.
The price of my haircut inspired a random 3-page ML flaming a few weeks ago. So I don't think the engagement ring fiasco was a one-time deal. I think they're probably worse than MM on the "I wouldn't spend x on something so anyone who does is an idiot" front.

I believe it! They are freaking tempting. DH has been paleoish/low carb since 2010 (conveniently he decided to go paleo during my first pregnancy... thanks sweetie). I have reduced my carb intake over the years but we are a family that needs our pancakes from time to time. No regrets!
Whoa this post is crazy. Even though it's not my thing (like heygrey I'd rather have power tools!) I would not judge her for spending her money this way. Her money = her life.
She is definitely a class act with a response like that.

I love the closet! And I'm not even into clothes but if I posted about our upcoming family backpacking trip to Panama and everyone was dour about it, it'd be hard. She had a very classy response.
I have never heard of Carylee before, but I am very impressed with her gracious, kind response. Perfect example of not stooping down to the level of those who disagree or are not kind.
