Any good, basic nutrition book recommendations? I'd like to learn more about strategically feeding your body for energy and endurance. I'd also like to understand more about when and what it's best to feed your body in relation to exercise (before? after? how much? what?). Bonus if it's educational and easy to understand. I'm having a hard time finding anything that's not a diet plan or program of some kind.
It's not related to sports nutrition, but one of my favorite books on basic nutrition is In Defense of Food by Michael Pollan. It's not a diet, and has a very realistic perspective on how to eat for best nutrition. Plus it's well written & an easy read.
I loved The Abs Diet by David Zinczenko. It's not a diet, I swear. Very informative and a fast read. He's the editor in chief of Men's Heath magazine and is featured on The Today Show frequently.
Thanks for the recs! I will check them all out. I am recovering from 20 years of disordered eating, and have made enormous strides on that in the last few months. I already eat pretty healthily, but know that I could use nutrition more effectively to fuel my workouts, and want to learn more.
