Okay ladies, in your opinion do I need to consider taking the MAP?
Not sure of my first day of last period exactly, but I know it was at least 12-19. Pretty sure it wasn't the 18th. I did not resume taking my birth control since. I was really sick, traveling and I kept forgetting, and I kept seeing commercials about lawsuits against my specific brand and I guess that turned me off as well.
Isn't the most fertile time 11-14 days from the 19th? That would be Dec 30th-Jan 2nd. We had an oops last night. Baby center calculator says I'm most fertile through the 4th.
In your opinion would you take the morning after pill?
I am seeing my doc Jan 21st and will be asking for something new to take. She won't give me Mirena.
Definitely take it. Your fertile window is not necessarily at the "traditional" time of your cycle--it could be earlier, could be later. There is no way to know for sure (unless you chart). If you don't want to get pregnant, definitely get the MAP.
Has anyone ever taken it that is willing to share? Anything I need to be concerned about?
I must've heard some story about someone bleeding to death or near it so its always freaked me out a bit.
Thank you for your opinions!
Yes, a few times and I have had no issues whatsoever. I think the main side effect is nausea - freaking everything makes me queasy but not the MAP so I really wouldn't be too concerned.
I wonder if you heard something about the pill that induces abortions? That did sound scary to me when I read about it (long ago, might be different now).
Just coming off BC who knows when you might ovulate, but did you notice an increase in watery or egg white like discharge the last few days? That's a good signal of fertile window for most women.

If you don't want to be pregnant I would take it. You have no idea when/if you ovulated, so there is not a good way to tell if you are in a fertile period.
The only thing for me was one time I didn't take it with food (I think I had a few pills to take?) and was sick. So I'd advise taking it with food. Other than that it wasn't a big deal. I think the worst I had was some cramping and spotting.
Ditto everyone else. I actually just took it a few weeks ago after spacing on the fact I was on antibiotics and BCP. It was no big deal and I didn't have any side effects.

The MAP isn't completely without side effects or risks, but compared to being pregnant (which involves lots of side effects and risks), it is an extremely safe alternative. I would definitely take it, if you don't want to get pregnant.
If you are taking Yaz and have concerns (I assume that's what seems to have commercials lately) talk to your MD about switching. There has been a small risk of increased stroke/blood clots to be found, but not patients are equally at risk.
