I never want to leave.
After all our old house issues, I am in utter shock we made it to this point of being in a new forever home. I love it so much, that I don't even have a desire to go on vacation because that would entail leaving our home.
Our house is probably nothing special to the average person, but whoa, this just feels good.
We probably lost $250k from stupid real estate mistakes/ bad timing/ buying a lemon, but its all over now and we are starting fresh. I'm at a point where I can say I don't regret our mistakes, as we may have not ended up here otherwise.
hereonceagain, that's GREAT!!!! I am so happy to hear that you are so psyched.
And forget the comment about "nothing special to the average person," it's special to you and my guess is the average person would be THRILLED to feel that way about their house so cheers!!!

I really need to thank MM for always suggesting heavy negotiations. I programmed my mind to make a business decision rather than an emotional one. Our sellers were investors that are billionaires. I didn't feel guilty one bit negotiating the hell out of this deal, and although it took three months, we got our home for 30% off listing price. We saved 6 digits due to my negotiating, and our house is now worth 6 digits more than we paid, based on comps (but moot point since we won't sell).
That is a great feeling! I know I feel that way now after being pretty uncomfortable in my old house (due to a neighbor) for years. It's funny, I just told DH last night I never want to leave our house & he just said "you never have to".

It's an awesome feeling, I feel that way too! We decided to buy a foreclosure to get out of a condo that we were miserable in. We still own the condo and rent it out for a loss, but we are so much happier now that it is worth it to us. We were just at the condo this week getting it ready for new renters and even after just visiting for a few hours we were glad to be out of there and really realized what a good decision we had made.
I totally understand that feeling, actually all of it down to the six figure loss on our first, poorly timed purchase. That said, I can't imagine a better house for me than ours, and I've told DH that the only way he's getting me out of here is on a stretcher! It's a great feeling to be totally happy somewhere, and I bet your past experience makes you appreciate your current home even more. Enjoy the feeling!
I love my current house. It's a rental, so I will have to leave it eventually, but I hear ya on the increase in quality of life. We just re-did the master bedroom and it makes me giddy just to walk in there. <3
