... the number of times I've seen posts JUST like it.
By all means, trust some old biddies over the ultrasound tech that has credentials, experience and spends all day, every day reading ultrasounds to tell the sex of your child.
On the bright side, it's not one of the ones where someone is so upset about the sex that they're posting pics trying to get people to agree that the tech was wrong. I get some momentary disappointment when the vision in your head doesn't work out, but those are just icky.

People DO this???
An ultrasound tech told us a story of the dad-to-be getting up and storming out of the room when he found out it was a girl.

I've seen it a few times at least, between this pregnancy and with DD. The stupidest thing about it is that you can deny and argue all you want, it won't change anything. If someone really is disappointed, accept it, let it go and move on.
Wow. This shouldn't surprise me, seeing how ass-holish the world can seem at times, but it still does.
I think that's kind of disgusting actually. I can understand maybe being bummed out I guess, like if this is kid #3, your "last shot" at a girl, and you end up with another boy, but no fucking way

To be honest I get sex disappointment to a degree. Having lost a daughter, that is where my mind left off. Planning for a baby girl to be the first child in our family. So with this pregnancy, while I tried my best to mentally prepare for the possibility of a boy being first, I was a little worried. We just found out this baby was a girl too, but if it was a boy I would have had an "Ok, take a deep breath and change gears" moment and probably a moment at some point where I would cry. By the time I gave birth I think I would have been totally excited for a baby boy but it would have taken more work.
With that said, I wouldn't discredit what an ultrasound tech says just so I could keep thinking what I wanted.
