My husband will be let go at the end of the month. He is really sad and I don't know what to do for him. He was out of work for a year in 2011 and in 2012 he worked as a contractor. He doesn't think he will have a career again because he can't see to find a permanent job.
DH left for a work trip this morning to Alberta for the next 10 day, at least.
That's assuming everything goes well on site. We've known about the Canada trip for a while, it's actually been pushed back a few times, but it still completely sucks to have him gone. He definitely has the worse end, being away from the kids, in the middle of nowhere Canada in January, blah blah blah. I don't know how single parents do it! I'm going to try and stay super busy and get out of the house everyday with the kids.
OMG. I'm sitting in the back of a courtroom listening to BF arguing a case (I guess it's a case?). I feel like standing up and saying objection every 2 seconds. The other attorneys are such jerks. I have no idea what's really going on, but it is making me so nervous.
I am back to work today after 2wks off, and I seriously think I need to find a new job. I also finish my 5 day cleanse today, and I can't wait to have some eggs and cheese.
What kind of cleanse are you doing? I'm doing a 3-day Blueprint Cleanse in the middle of next week. I need to get mentally prepared...
It was a 'winter cleanse' diet to detox and get rid of sugar cravings--no meat, dairy, gluten/wheat, caffeine. A lot of soups and Indian-inspired recipes. Lots of cooking from scratch. Also encouraged using natural soaps, hair products and doing skin scrubbing a few times a day. I've been off caffeine since Thanksgiving and liked the recipes for the most part, so it was very manageable. But DH doesn't like soups or Indian food, and I miss sharing dinner with him. And I really miss cheese.
Yes! I meant to update the other post. I really liked it. BF did not. I thought the crust was amazing! I had delicious homemade burratta, too. We went to Don Antonio since it was closer to our hotel and I was feeling lazy. I want to try the other place soon.
Have you had a waffle from the waffle cart outside of Columbus Circle? It's soooo good. You have to try it.

Wafles and Dinges? I love them. They have a cart in our neighborhood on Friday and Saturday nights, which is bad bad news.

I'm sorry I did the contracting thing for four years and it was so discouraging to have to keep bouncing around. I finally got a regular FT job six months ago. Keeping my fingers crossed for him!

I always saw that listed on the NYC Street Food feed on Twitter when I worked in the city, but I never got to try it. That, and the halal cart on 53rd Street that has 3000+ glowing Yelp reviews.

My GI doc just called. I'm not looking forward to starting the treatment when the doc calls, not the receptionist, and they warn you that the treatment is tough. On the plus side, I'm not crazy and making it up like a certain poster implied, and there is a treatment which means I should be better in a month.
The Rickshaw truck is outside my office today, but i had a salad instead. Womp, womp. The Waffles and Dinges truck comes on Fridays. I finally tried one the last day I worked before mat leave and it was heaven.
And there's another Wafles and Dinges truck about 6 blocks north of your office! So temptation is everywhere. I often walk by your W&D truck on my way back from Dig Inn, when luckily my hands are full and I'm feeling virtuous.
We have five weddings on the docket for 2013. That's more than any year since the year we got married in 2006. And I am freaking excited, I hope we can make it to all of them! (Only one is local, but all are within a 2.5-hour flight.)
I'm annoyed and a little confused that they I already received the SS rate raise. My Pay Period was for Dec 15-29. Why was it taken out this pay period and not the next one?
Its for the income paid in the current year. So what you would get a W-2 on at the end of the year.
We have to out of town weddings this year. One is a 6 hour drive. The other is a 4 hour flight. Oh and my bff is having her first baby. She lives 4 hours away, so this will be an expensive summer!

I LURV Blueprint! The cashew milk is so delicious. It makes the rest of the day worth it.
If you want to prep, most of the Whole Foods in NYC carry the juices, check them out. I know at least the 57th Street and Tribeca locales do.

I've actually done Blueprint once before (and I've done Cooler Cleanse a few times too -- I actually may prefer Cooler, but BPC had a Gilt thing). Just hard to remind myself that I can't have yummy food or alcohol next week and will have to choke the red juice down. Red juice is my archnemesis.
I do really really love the nut milks though. Cooler Cleanse's almond milk is pretty much my best friend.

I have always wondered about Cooler Cleanse - what about it do you prefer over BPC?

I like the flavors better overall. I think the green juice is a tad better than BPC (though that's subjective, and I can't say I love choking down either), the CC almond milk is HEAVENLY (while I'd say that the BPC cashew milk is more along the lines of very, very tasty to me), and I like their coconut water. But on the other hand, I think BPC is a little more filling. And I think that it is definitely a place where reasonable minds may differ
I've heard really good things about Organic Avenue's cleanses, but it is a PITA if you don't live on top of an OA store because I think you have to pick up every day, and each of the bottles has a deposit on it.

Cool, thanks. I'll have to try CoolerCleanse next time so I can compare. I don't like coconut water, but it seems like they have other options, which is nice.
OA is delicious generally, though I've never done a cleanse.
