99 days out of 100, we are sitting on the couch in front of the TV. No paper towels for us, though. No, no, no. Cloth napkins (if we use them at all) because we are klassy that way.
If we have guests, we will pull out the table. My table is antique and I don't want to hurt it, so anytime we eat on the table, we use a table cloth to hide the pads.
We eat at the kitchen table 90% of the time. The other times we eat in the living room. I sit on the floor between the couch and coffee table and FI sits on the couch. Well, used to but now we don't have a couch so it's the love seat :-(
We have been trying to make an effort to eat in our dining room since we have one now. Although Friday through Sunday night we usually eat in front of the TV in the family room. We have been eating breakfast in the dining room though.
We don't use cloth napkins, only because we don't have any. Paper towels for us though. I just ordered some cloth ones with a gift card we got to Crate and Barrel. We haven't had a dinner party yet in our house.
We usually eat on the couch in front of the TV. My dog lays under my legs, so if I spill/drop something (and there is a good chance I will) then she eats it. If parents are visiting, then we eat at the table like the adults we should be. Once children come along, we'll eat at the table every night.
We eat at our DR table every night. When Baby Fuss is around we enforce a no-food-anywhere-else rule.
Our table is my grandmother's mid century modern Danish draw-leaf table and matching woven-cane chairs. We don't take any special care of it. Baby Fuss's side has usually got food and residue smeared all over in the perfect outline of a placemat.
Cloth napkins here too. Not fancy ones or anything, I just hate wasting paper ones.
We've gotten really bad about eating in front of the tv. We used to always eat together at the kitchen island, but since I got pregnant our meals and schedule changed. We only eat the same thing now 2-3 times a week. H eats a lot of salads for dinner, which just don't cut it for me. Or he'll grill fish, which I don't eat, and maybe we'll cook a veggie that we both eat.
I think we need to start menu planning and get on a better schedule.
We eat at the coffee table while watching the news most days. Very very infrequently do we use our dining table. The last time we used it was a few weeks ago when we had people over for dinner. I love my table. I wish I used it more. I don't have cloth napkins just paper towels. It's one of those things I want to buy but never remember. I do eat lunch at it everyday so that's something.
My cloth napkins are definitely not fancy. The everyday ones are made from Brad's shirts. Every time he blows out an elbow, we get new napkins. We do have some fancier ones which rarely get used. Sadly, it's because I don't want to stain them.
As for my table, I put a pizza box on it once with a trivet underneath and the heat still ruined the finish, so now I baby it.
DS has a new facination with picnics. When I tell him it's time to eat, he grabs his placemat and throws it down on his carpet town in the living room and announces "nicknick".
Occasionally, we'll let him have his picnic (when the food has minimal mess potential) but mostly, we eat at the dining room table.
We don't have a "fancy" dining room. Just a small dining room that shares a half wall with the non-eat-in-kitchen. All of our dining room furniture is from Ikea. H and I use those half-sheet papertowels and DS gets a wet washcloth... 'cause he usually needs 2 or 3 passes until he's actually clean.
We usually eat in the living room by the tv. The kids eat at a table their size (except for DS #2 who is still in his high chair) and DH & I are perched on the couch. The dog is sitting attentively at our knees begging with his ears.

We sit at the table 99.9% of the time. We have a large tv on wheels (classy, right?) that H always turns so he can watch tv while we eat, but with DS I make it a point to always eat at the table and I always ask him what his favorite part of the day was.
Usually if it past 7:00 before dinner is ready, we eat in the living room and watch TV while we eat. Otherwise we eat at the kitchen table. Also, if we are eating something that's difficult to eat while on your lap (bone in chicken breast or something), then we eat at the table. I would say it's about 50/50.

At the coffee table, real utensils and plates, paper napkins. If we're working on feeding therapy with the kiddo she's in her high chair (that's really not high) on the floor facing us.
If we have company (only up to 2 guests though) we will eat at the table. Or if I go all out and make something SUPER nice.

Last night I ate in my hotel room because I'm traveling on business, but normally we eat at the table and always have. We use real napkins, plates, and silverware. Our new house has an eat-in kitchen, but I predict that we will normally eat in the dinning room because it has a nice view of the wetland preserve our house backs up onto. But I suppose that might change when the kitchen table is no longer covered in tools, spare rags, and plumbing projects.
Joaquin, H & I eat dinner together at our big table. She usually uses the high chair for dinner. Breakfast we usually eat on the couch in front of the TV. Lunch, she & I sit at the table, her not in the high chair unless what we're having is crazy messy. H eats whenever and where ever, except dinner.
We always use nice plates/utensils, even if we're eating Chinese take-away. I don't really need to use a napkin unless we're eating something like wings or crabs.

I have this strange fear that I am going to walk away from the table with food smeared on my face... Napkins aren't optional for me whether they are cloth or paper or paper towels, it's one of my many "quirks".
