I recently finished Honolulu by Alan Brennert and had read Moloka'i a year or so ago. Though I liked both, I thought Moloka'i was much better. I realize Jin (main character in Honolulu) went through a lot and I commend her for being strong throughout, but it just seemed like a lot of the plot lines had very convenient endings. I also just felt like it didn't flow as smoothly. Did anyone else feel the same way?
It's been a while since I read Honolulu, so I don't recall all the different plot lines, but I remember when I finished Moloka'i, I felt that I liked Honolulu better. But I thought they were both very good.
molokai is one of my favorite books. honolulu was okay.
My thoughts exactly. It's been a while since I've read either of them, but I'm planning a Moloka'i reread as soon as I finish The Shoemaker's Wife. I definitely remember not liking Honolulu as much.
