We own like 900 towels yet each and every one is in embarrassing condition. Do you have any that you'd recommend?
Thanks!
ETA: and now that I think of it, I could also use help being a grown-up... So say you had two adults living in a 2 bathroom apartment. What assortment of towels would you want to buy to have a full set for both bathrooms and houseguests (which are a rare thing, and never includes more than two adults)? Right now we basically each just use our bath towels for everything... which is not ideal when we have friends over and forget to put out hand towels to pretend we aren't feral.
I have two sets from Bloomingdales, one is the Platinum collection, it is super soft, DH loves them. The other is called Baltic Linen Company, and I like it b/c it's a bit more "firm" in terms of the cotton pile, if that makes sense.
I also have a set from Pottery Barn that is really nice and soft as well.
We bought them during the anniversary sale on a whim ("hey, we need more towels") and seriously they are amazing. So soft, so absorbent, have held up beautifully. I really don't think I'll ever buy different ones again.
Ours are 6.5 years old (wedding) and I want new ones. DH thinks they are fine. (Starting to "shred" on the edges, the bands have all shrunk so they don't lay flat.)
We buy the ones from Costco - I'm not sure of the brand, but they usually only have one kind in a variety of neutral colors. I really like them - they are absorbent, long-lasting, and great value for the money. We buy the bath sheets and the bath towels - I like to wrap myself completely in the big ones after a shower, and then use the smaller towel on my hair.
Oh, and we buy matching hand towels and wash cloths for our bathroom sink. I actually have fancier guest hand towels that I bought at Crate and Barrel for the guest bathrooms.
I like my towels, except that they lost their color quickly. I don't know if that is due to the towel or the place that does the laundry. They are Lennox and are a bamboo/cotton blend. I love the way they feel.
We do a bath towel + hand towel + washcloth for guests. We have about 6 towels in the rotation, maybe 8 hand towels, and 4 washcloths. I know people that keep guest towels separate so that they stay nice, but we just give them next up from the pile. We do keep a hand towel in the bathroom at all times for drying hands, which I switch out once or twice a week.

DH likes dark towels while I prefer white. We have 2 each of towels (sheets are entirely too large to twist up for hair), hand towels and washcloths. We also have 2ea of 2 additional colors for guests. All wedding gifts.
After 5.5 years of extensive use, our hotel collection towels are not quite as soft. I will probably get new guest towels once our guest bath reno is complete and am leaning towards RH.
We have the hotel collection towels from Macys, and they're awesome.
We registered for an embarrassing amount of towels- 4 of each washcloth, hand, bath towel, and bath sheet in 2 colors (brown and blue). We ended up packing 1/2 of them away for the future.
The Hotel Towel Collection from Macy's are awesome. They also always go on sale so whatever you do, don't buy them full price.
this is what we have, and I love them. and ditto about not paying full price. they have sales all the time. and if you sign up for Macy's emails, I think you get a one-time code for 20% off your purchase. so we ended up getting our towels at about half-off of retails.
for us, we have 6 wash cloths, 6 hand towels, 3 bath towels (for me), and 3 bath sheets (for H).
for our guest bath, I think we have 4 sets (towels, hand towels, wash cloths). seems to be plenty (we don't have a lot of houseguests either).
