Just when I thought my back and forth problems were over for this stupid collection (that I love). And this may sound irrational to some, but I need to just vent.
I ordered the Alice and Olivia suitcase on 1/3, and it got delivered today. Yay! Then I opened it up and found that one of the elastic straps had a big spot where it looked worn and might even snap after a couple uses. No bueno. I looked online to see if any of my stores nearby had any in stock (I knew the 2 closest did not which is why I bought online in the first place). I found one, called to confirm they did, and took my suitcase and online receipt with me to make the even exchange.
I get there, inspect a new suitcase and get ready for an easy even item exchange! But it wasn't so simple. Target's system blocked returns on the collection items after 1/5. So even though I got the suitcase today 1/7, their system wouldn't allow for an exchange. The girl had to call their corporate people to walk through how to do the transaction, and it ended up having to go on a gift card. Fine, use the gift card on the new suitcase, NBD. Except that I used my Target card to purchase, so I should still get 5% off. Somehow, although the suitcase I purchased was $53.99 online -5%, and the suitcase in the store was marked down to $53.98, when she took the 5% off manually, it said I owed them $1.50(ish).
Now I realize it's bitchy to get upset over such a small amount. But how should I owe them anything, even a penny more, when I'm even exchanging for the same exact item, and my item arrived at my house damaged. Not to mention the math doesn't even work! So I refused and said that makes no sense, why wouldn't the price be the exact same price, and why should I have to pay more, especially when I had to drive all the way there to do this in the first place. I asked her to price adjust, and finally she did. Then gave me back the gift card and said that I have a penny balance. Super. I almost told her to keep the penny but thought I would look like a super bitch at that point so I just took it with the receipts and suitcase and left.
SOOOOOOOOO DUMB!!!!!!!!!!!!
And there was a guy behind me who wanted to do the exact same thing with a DVF jewelry box that had a flaw on it. I told him good luck!

Target sucks at returns... I still shop there even though I vowed not to after the ordeal I went through over a defective DVD. I get a headache just trying to park at Walmart and Meijer is more grocery.
Fashion - what is your opinion on the suitcase? We need new luggage as almost all of the ones we have are broken somehow. I was debating getting this one for me (I usually use just a carry on anyways). Would it be big enough to hold 5-7 days worth of clothing for something like Cancun?
Blue - it's a good carry on bag, I like the hard sides and the wheels pivot which is nice. Size wise I think it's good for 5 days of clothes. It might work for more if you're going to Mexico and obviously packing things that are lighter for the weather.
It also comes with a (cheap) lock and some cute drawstring bags for laundry, shoes, glasses and "other". They have printed illustrations by the designer.
Target's a PITA but it seriously depends on the store for returns. We have 2 here in town and one is so lax about their return policy. The other is a stickler for the "rules". I'm sorry it's been such a bad experience fashion
What a pain in the ass fashion! We already talked about my plates and I thought that was annoying, but this takes the cake.
In recent years I had thought Target got better with returns. I remember my cousin getting married in earlier 2000s and registering there. She was only allowed return one item at a time from her registry and said they were a PITA and to stay away. Now with Red Card, they seem fairly easy to work with, especially the no-receipt needed if paid on card.
However, I agree that it seems these collaborations, in general largely NM, have done nothing but sway my opinion to the negative on the store.
I agree hz, that's why I didn't have a target registry. I was warned to stay away. I had a friend who even with a gift receipt from her wedding could only "exchange for some thing else in that section".
I wasn't a fan of this collection at all and this kind of confirms it.
HZ I remember when I got married so many girls on TK reported having problems with Target's returns, I deleted mine before I told anyone I even had one.
I haven't usually had such issues but I'm definitely leery of these limited collections now. I think the "regular stock" collabs they do are find but this is one disaster after another from their web to store discrepancies, the ease of people buying en masse and stuff ending up on eBay, and now the return hassles.
No matter how cute the products may be, if they keep alienating their loyal customers they will lose them.
Funny, I was just complaining about Target last week...
I returned a sweater a week ago that I purchased (just didn't care for the fit). I paid via "cash" (American Express gift card) and couldn't find the receipt. Returned the sweater and got a gift card. I was totally fine with that. However, I thought that the gift card was for $5 less than what I originally paid for the sweater, but didn't have time to run back and check.
Then a few days later, my 4 year old and I went in. He needed to exchange three small Imaginext toys that he got for Christmas (already had them). His Uncle said that he bought the items from Target, and had no gift receipt. We were just exchanging them, though. Target wouldn't let us exchange the toys, we had to return them and get a gift card. Okay, fine, weird - they would only exchange if it was the same exact toy figures.
So we head back to the toy section and see that the toys are $7.99 a piece, but they gave us $5.19 a piece. We went back up front and asked what gives - why short us that money? The person behind the counter said that they charge convenience fees if you don't have your receipt. Um, what? I argued that my son was just exchanging three toys for the same priced toys, but they wouldn't do it.
Also checked the price on the sweater I returned, and I was right - I had been shorted $5.
I emailed Target and complained. Someone mentioned that they will refund you the lowest selling price in the last 90 if you don't have a receipt, or if you didn't pay via credit/debit card so they could look your receipt up. Nowhere in their return policy online, in store, or no the receipt does it say that they won't refund your full amount that you paid.
Customer service emails back and send me a copy of their return policy as their response. I re-read it, and again, nothing on there about refunding the lowest selling price. Responded to the woman that sent me the email by saying that what she sent me was NOT helpful, because it doesn't reflect anything about lowest selling price.
She responded back with this: "We're able to return up to $70 of merchandise per year without a receipt. Additionally, the amount we're able to refund reflects the lowest selling price in the past 90 days. Refunds for non-receipted returns are always in the form of a Target GiftCard, which doesn't expire or lose value over time."
Okay, so, it's basically a verbal policy, not physically in their return policy then.
I think the lowest price in 90 days does make sense...
...and I guess I can't complain on their online returns; I know I posted about this on the old board...about a year ago I made a huge online clothing order, about $200 worth of items. At the time, online had had a promotion for 20% off orders over $75. However, the majority of the items fit poorly and I ended up returning most of the items in store. When I did, they items rang up as fullprice. I told the cashier that was more than I paid for it online. This happened a few times, some times they would manually adjust prices but at least once they didn't and I ended up coming out ahead. I emailed CS twice about it and never received a response (rude), but I know it is now fixed.
I guess to be fair, their return policy states that returns without a receipt "may have limitations or restrictions may apply." That they honor the lowest price in 90 days makes sense to me, even if that's a pain. But when you have your receipt and they give you hassles, it doesn't make sense.
That still sucks that they wouldn't just give you an even exchange though Quorra. And the "convenience" charge sounds like BS. I can understand the lowest selling price, but not a convenience charge.
$70 per year without a receipt sounds low. Most stores do have a policy similar to prevent people stealing items and returning without a receipt. That's why they take your driver's license or ID to track how much you've returned without a receipt.
I just received my suitcase. LOVE
I am so happy it was marked down to 70% off. I really thought long and hard about it at 50% but couldn't justify it, but it's a total steal at 70%. I think it's adorable, I can't wait to fly w/ it!
I also bought the damn silver box this past weekend for $15. I think given enough time I would have bought the entire collection at 70% off. Not really, some things I wouldn't have taken for free, but upon counting, I now own 8 items. That's 5 that I bought just because they were on sale.
Anyone know what happened to the bikes? did they just sell out? I might have had to snatch one of those up too for 70% off but never saw them past the 50% reduction.

I just received my black fur vest and MJ pouches yesterday. I had purchased 2 of the rose gold pouches, one for me and one for my sister. The quality definitely isn't worth the $70 original price, but for $20 I'm ok with it. It's a cute little bag and I think i've decided I'm just going to use it as a clutch. Hoping that since it won't be used super often it'll hold up to general wear and tear. The vest I really like. I thought the quality was very good considering it only cost me like $23 and I was happy with the fit. I would've preferred that it be a tad longer, but I'm still really happy with it.
I just saw that Target is going to price match online etailors. You would think they'd get their own policies under control before doing this. I forsee a shiz show and employees who don't know what's going on.
