Is there any way I can take my pay stubs and "estimate" how much I will get on my tax return? I have all of my recent paystubs for 2012 but one, but I know the general amount I made at that job in 2012...
Is this stupid? I'm trying to plan on paying off a larger bill and kind of budgeting my tax return.
And you should only need your last paystub from the last paycheck of the year--most paystubs give the total for the year.
Awesome. I worked at 4 different employers in 2012, so it's kind of crazy. I'm only not sure of the totals for one employer so I guesstimated using percentages for taxes. Unfortunately I'm not getting a whole lot back but it's more than I normally get since I normally owe. It won't be enough to pay off my large bill, but it'll take it down a good chunk. Thanks for your help.
Just don't count your chickens before they hatch of you don't have the actual numbers for the one job. If you have lots of part time jobs, they may not withhold correctly because they don't know what you make at your other jobs. It's still a decent estimate. H&R Block also has a free, quick calculator on their website, but you have to do the math with all of your final pay stubs to get the w2 numbers to input.
