Don't know if this is a mistake or what, but you can download all of CS2, or just one of the programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) from Adobe right now.
it's not a mistake. Adobe is offering it for free on purpose. The current version is CS6 - this was released in 2005. Still awesome if you don't want to shell out or have an older computer.
I know it's the old version, I have CS6. Just seemed strange that they'd give an older version away instead of making people pay for a new license.
I wish it worked on Windows 7. I don't use photoshop often, but it's so handy and the new versions would be totally overkill for me. Plus I'm cheap.
Are you sure it won't work with Windows 7? I thought they usually listed minimum system requirements, meaning it would work on those systems or greater?

I've heard it won't. And I may have a bootleg version from college that wouldn't install (and did just fine on all my previous machines).
You can rent CS6 (or individual programs like Photoshop, Premiere, Lightroom) on a month-to-month basis. It's pretty neat. I need to edit videos like once every 4-5 months and it totally does the job.

really? there is literally no one that uses CS2 on a professional basis. the RD costs are beyond paid for. CS suite in my, IMHO, strictly a professional suite that the average person will never fully use. they hope to get some sucker to try it and then upgrade to CS 5.5 or 6 and drop a 1000 bucks on it. That said. It's an awesome product and thank god for my educational discount.

But they make money of nonprofessionsls who buy Elements, and those people wouldn't necessarily buy it of they can get this one to run for free.
