I just went to see what books I need now that my class schedule is final, and I need 8 books for 3 classes, with a total of $900 (not including shipping) through the school. Thankfully I found them all on half.com for a total of $310 shipping included. Its so annoying though, as some of the books (and information in them) will be completely useless by next year when everyone HAS to change over to the new coding systems :@
Agree!!! If possible I try go to the first class to see how much reading from the book the professor has on the schedule. That or ask around from other people who have taken the class.
Hopefully you can tell them back and make some of that money back!

I've become obsessed with the yard sale pages on FB. I got one of H's books for $10 and one for $30. We didn't get the other two before class started and one of the teachers told them not to waste their money on it. Hopefully the last one won't be expensive.
I bought from Amazon when I was still going and would sell back to them at the end of the semester for Amazon credit

That's what I did last time I was in school. This time I am going to school online through a CC in TX while living in AK, so waiting to buy my books then hoping they arrive on time would not work. I did that last semester and got pretty screwed.
I did rent 2 of them, some weren't available for rent and some were cheaper to buy then to rent, so I just bought them and will sell them back later. I know I can sell them back, but DAM that is A LOT of book and $ for 3 classes!
Ugh, I agree! My H is taking classes in preparation for his CPA exam, and his book for his class at the local CC is $230! Lowest price anywhere, and its LOOSELEAF PAPER you put in your own binder! Ridiculous!

OMG that is CRAZY! Glad I didn't go with my original plan to be a CPA! I will be going for CPC to build on my current certificate once the classes switch to the new coding system

O I did a LOT of searching! That was defiantly the best price I could get them for... I ended up buying most of them, but that just means I can sell them back! Most were rent-able since they aren't really considered "textbooks", and some were just cheaper to buy
