Just finished my first week. I used all my weekly flex points but didnt need to use any of my activity points. I weighed myself and was only down 1/2 a lb. Kinda upset about this. Should I not use my weekly points?
semi lurker coming in... I have done weight watchers successfully in the past and just finished my first week again as well! I have always utilized my weekly points, that is what they are there for. You definitely should be able to use those points, is it possible you could be eating too many fruits and vegetables?

I just joined WW today, but have done it before. The flex points are there for you to use if necessary, but you shouldn't count on using them. In the past, I lost more on weeks when I didn't use them or didn't use all of them.
When I was on WW, I learned from people there that there's a lot of trial and error involved. Some people can eat all 49 points and still lose a lot of weight. Some people can only eat up to a certain number and still lose a lot of weight. Some people can barely eat any if they want to lose any weight. It's very individual.
The consistent message is that if you eat all your daily points AND your 49 weekly points (max), you will lose weight. And you did - it just wasn't as much as you hoped it would be. I know you did some activity too but how much did you do? Also, perhaps you miscalculated the 49 points and it ended up being more in reality?
If I were you, I would do the same amount of activity this week and maybe make your max flex point allowance, say, 40 points. See how that works. Then decrease that limit if you'd like to lose a bit more during the week. Good luck!
I did WW a while ago and I found my weight loss fluctuated. Some weeks it would be 1/2 a pound others, 4. Also is it possible you aren't eating enough? I know you are really active and I know when I did WW, not getting in enough calories was a big issue for me.

I crossfitted 4 times during the week.
I guess I will try to eat less of the 49 pts.
I did not eat a lot of fruits and veggies. Probably only 2-4 servings total a day combined
Honestly I'd say it's not about eating less, but more of the 49 points. Did you add up how many calories you are eating just for reference?
No but i could easily go back and do that....looks around 1700 or so calories a day which is too little i think.
It might be given all the crossfit. I found this was a huge issue I had with WW and had to stop. My points were adding up to under 1200 calories a day if I wanted to eat any sort of protein. I should say this was under their old program, and I think they've changed it some.
I just reupped with double dub last week, my weigh in is on Friday, so fingers crossed...
Last time I followed the plan, I barely dipped into my 49 extra weekly points and only used my exercise points if I felt I needed them. When I did that I lost 14 lbs in 2 months. When I started losing less/gaining was when I used all of my 49 extra points and used my exercise points in an unhealthy way (I wasn't necessarily hungry from running 4 miles, but I ran 4 miles, so damnit, I am going to have a vodka soda!)
Try not eating the extra points if you are not hungry. I saved my extra points during my successful periods for a few treats during the week--eating out, a cocktail or two. I would rarely use more than 20 additional weekly points.
I am back to doing it that way right now and I hope it pays off!
The flex points are there to be used. Everyone's body is different. I have a friend who eats all her flex points and all her activity points each week. It's the only way she ever lost weight. If not, her body would just stop losing weight. I played around and found that if I ate no more than half of my flex points and no activity points I would still use but if I used all my points I would either gain or stay the same.
Either way, remember a half a pound is good. It's a loss, any loss is good. It may take your body a few weeks to adjust to your new eating habits. You could lose .5 this week and 1.5 next.

Yea I am going to try to not eat my flex pts this week and see how that goes. If that doesnt work, than I am trying the opposite since I might need to eat more (this was the same problem i had when I calorie counted and lost 30# before).
Great advice from other WW alums in here. I'd also like to add that if you're not measuring or weighing your food, make sure you start now. Little things like 1 c. of a starch vs 1.25 c. of a starch add up. It sucks, but it's got to be done.
Another thing: When I was on WW, my weigh-in seemed to reflect how I ate not the immediate 7 days prior but the week before that. I totally had disappointing weigh-ins after a week of feeling like I had done the program perfectly only to come back the following week and see the scale move in a really positive direction. This comes back to what PPs have said about everyone's bodies being different. But maybe when you weigh in next week, you'll make up for the disappointing loss then.

This is so true. There is a woman in my mtg who is on a 3 week cycle. She'll lose a few pounds one week and then nothing for 2 weeks, then she'll have another loss of a few pounds. I am nothing like that, I am part of the 'points club'. I lose .8, .5, .2, I hardly ever lose a whole pound.
